Why do Democrats want gun control?

The commies in Russia passed gun control laws, disarmed civilians, and the communists seized control of Russia because no one could fight back. Hitler disarmed the Germans the same way and went on to kill anyone he did not like because they were disarmed. Japan did not attack the US because they knew Americans were armed and that Americans have a history of not being afraid to fight anyone.

I should easily be able to buy any weapon I want except for a nuclear weapon, including autos, or semi-autos. I will never, ever give up my weapons, so I vote for Republicans most of the time so this will not happen. Democrats like Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama want to ban the sale of semi-automatics, so that proves right there they have no backbone and they would make weak leaders. Bill Clinton did enough to destroy the Second Amendment when he put a ban on the sales of automatics, and I never want to see another Clinton in the White House.

You’re very confused. Hitler continued the gun control law that was in effect under the Weimar Republic. The Nazis, however, made sure that the Hitler Youth organizations included training in guns and other weapons and military tactics. They were apparently planning something.

In addition, Japan attacked the United States at Pearl Harbor.

The regulation of weapons ownership is entirely constitutional.

First lets look at some of the answers here. Hopefully I will get the list right, Don C, Westhill, Kathy S, Pip, Henry VIII, iwasnotanazipol and Cherdon. Where do you people get your information? Last time I checked civilians cannot own a fully automatic weapon without a Class III FFL (Federal Firearms License) and if someone you know does then they are already in violation of not one but a few laws. Oh and I think civilians owning bazookas, rocket launchers, etc. is highly illegal as well.

But let us look at the logic you use. Many of you said that it is fine to own firearms but not anything that fires fully automatic or that is an assault weapon. So why does the fact a gun fires bullets at a faster cyclic rate more likely to make a law abiding citizen go out and use it in the commission of a crime? I really want to know, please enlighten all of us that do own firearms so we can be treated for this sickness.

Cherdon, where do I start? You make the statement that the NRA has brainwashed America. What a joke, the NRA is a big organization but yet receives little positive media attention and they are not a media outlet themselves so how do they brainwash us? CNN, CNBC, MSNBC, and other major news channels and programs are clearly anti-NRA so how again how does this brainwashing occur? Most news on TV is very negative towards the NRA but yet their numbers continue to grow, this is because Americans aren't brainwashed but instead many have simply gotten off the fence. Judging from your statements about the NRA and its members I infer you really have no idea of what the NRA stands for or what they have and haven't supported. The fact, that to stop the use of guns in crimes, they support enforcing the existing laws and in punishing criminals that use firearms in the commission of a crime to maximum extent by law is a great thing but yet many of the lawmakers who seek tough gun control don't support these measures should give you an idea but I know it won't. I suggest visiting the NRA website before making claims about them.

If the communist liberal gun grabbers really wanted to do something about public safety as the say then all they would have to do is disarm all the illegal immigrant Hispanic gangs and all the black gangs in the big cities. This would fix 90% of the so called gun violence problem, instead of piling more restrictive gun laws on the law abiding citizen that are armed because of the aforementioned THUGS.

I further submit that if these lame brain gun grabbing communist liberals put laws in place that limits a citizens God given rights to self protection of body and property then they are telling that citizen that they are in total control of the protection of him and his property from harm. I submit if they fail in this protection then they stand liable for any harm or loss and should be sued for by the citizen to be made whole....Seems fare to Me !

If you are not a member of the NRA you should be because The NRA is the only reason we as a nation still are allowed to own firearms, anyone with their eyes open can see the attack on gun ownership that has been going on for decades and lead by the communist left. The NRA has fought for our 2 nd amendment rights as no other organization has. Without your 2nd amendment rights you will have no other rights.

I'm part of a Democrat gun club. Last time I checked, nobody took any guns away from us. How did Clinton stop the sale of semi-automatic guns? My friend has full auto weapons. He just needed a special permit for them. You are a little off base with your comments I think.

I do think there should be some changes in gun laws. I have a neighbor who is a convicted drug felon. He got his guns back for "hunting"use. I don't agree with that. I also think people who have convictions for domestic abuse should have their guns pulled. Too many of these people end up killing their spouses and children. Criminals should never have the right to own guns. They lost that right in my opinion.

Point in fact: The NRA has brainwashed the US into thinking that the Democrats want to ban all gun ownership. They do not.

They want criminal background checks before a gun can be purchased at any venue, to make sure criminals don't have easy access to guns.

They want registration of guns, so that if they are used in commission of a crime, they can be tracked back to the owner.

They want a waiting period to make sure that some hot-head doesn't get one to shoot the cheating spouse before they've had a chance to cool off.

They think that military weapons aren't necessary for civilian purposes and should be banned, primarily to keep criminals from getting them.

And though it's not on the Democrat check list, I would add a requirement that you take and pass a gun safety course before you can get one, so that you know how to 'control' it yourself.

The leaders want to disarm the citizenry so it can do as it pleases without fear of an uprising, thus making us subjects to their rule. The democratic leaders have made it into something else to gain support from their sheeple.

Once again no one is going to take away your guns. When anyone votes for a party strictly based on one issue such as gun control, gay marriage, abortion, etc., they tend to overlook many critical issues that may more deeply impact their life and livelihood. Politicians know this and tend to capitalize on this which in turn has given us some of the less than desirable hacks we are now burdened with.

Quit worrying about the Clintons. They'll be far better for you than you think.

Some Democratic candidates and office holders push for more strict gun control laws because they are seeking to please a particular constituency. No surprise there. But I doubt if they will ever convince enough people to get far. The one thing that might do it is if people make silly accusations of "communism" and such.

The second amendment is still secure. One might argue about the legitimacy of banning automatics (I have my doubts), but the basic right to own a firearm is not under threat.

Where do you learn this garbage? The commies seized control in Russia because of millions of starving peasants who were glad to take up arms against the Czars who oppressed them. Gun control had nothing to do with it. Geesh learn a little bit of real history.
