How many feet are in a meter?

One foot is .305 meters.

So you would do this:
(64 ft/sec)(.305 m/ft) = 19.5 m/s

Notice how, in the second set of parentheses, I'm using a conversion factor to cancel out feet and put meters in its place. If you look, feet is in the numerator in one set of parentheses and the denominator in the next - so it cancels out.

The seconds stay the same, but the unit of length changes
64 feet/sec = 19.51 to two decimal points

If you go to www.onlineconversions.com it shows alot of unit conversions.

1 foot/second = 0.3048 meter/second
therefore,

64 feet / sec = 64*0.3048 = 19.507 meter/sec
