dude this is your health we're talking about here - if you are old enough, tell Mom to wait in the waiting room - if you guys are close, who cares if she is there? let the doctor know what's going on with your nut - it may be nothing, it may be serious - would you like to guess which one it is?

Yeah very funny question. I would be embarrassed too but if you have some kind of lump then you really need to point it out to the doctor. Just tell the doctor you have something really personal that you need to show him and that you need your mother to leave the room. The doctor will politely ask your mother to leave the room or if not he will put up a screen and you can then quickly point to the lump and the doctor will tell you pretty quick if it is something you should or should not be worried about. It's probably just a little lump and nothing to be worried about but a doctor can tell you very quickly if it is just nothing or if he needs to check it out more and do a test or something.

Look, no matter how embarassing it is, you don't want to ignore something like that. Maybe you could politely ask your mom for privacy, since, after all, this is your body, and health issues are generally personal. I'm sure she'll understand. It's not like she takes you to HER medical appointments, right?
If you have a physical symptom like that, it's downright necessary for you to mention it, either way. If your mom refuses to leave, it might be more difficult, but in the long run, if it turns out to be something legitimate, you'll be glad you didn't stay quiet. Anyway...
Good luck.

I don't think a mother should be in the room while her son is being examined after he reaches the age of 11 or 12.
My brother and I used to go in together when I was 12 and he was 10, without my mom. We'd watch each other get our physicals, but heaven forbid if my mother would be there. How embarrassing!!!

Ask the doctor if you can talk to him in private and he/she will have your Mom step out. You need to have this lump addressed as soon as possible, it could be nothing but could be something serious. Please talk to your doctor. You could even call the office ahead of time and speak to your doctors nurse and have them to talk to you in private before your Mom comes in. If you are old enough to be on Yahoo answers you are old enough to talk to the doctor by yourself without your Mom being in the room.

tell your mom you have a personal question you would like to talk to the doctor about. The ideal situation would be to realize that your mom is an adult and wants you to be well. It's nothing she hasn't heard before....just tell her you are going to talk to the doctor about it, and she should be fine with it. Just get over it and realize your mom is an adult, and it comes with the territory of having a boy. If you still can't get over it, maybe your dad can go with you next time if he is around.....tell her you have a guy question and would rather your dad take you next time .....good luck and God bless

If you are under "age of consent", your Mom will have to consent to any treatment the the doctor may recommend It may be embarrasing, but try to remember that she saw, bathed, and clothed those parts long before you did.
Do not procrastinate about getting the lump checked out.

If you are old enough to have your genitals examined by a doctor, you are old enough to see the doctor alone, and ask her to wait in the waiting room.

Ask your mom to leave the room. You are older and she will understand that you need privacy
EDIT: if you are underage your mom may want to be there, but you seem old enough to feel uncomfortable wiht your mom in the room. TALK to your dr. tell him you need to tell him something private, he'll help you handle it. How about your father, maybe he can help.
