I was watching the news this morning and had the impression that the announcers were ecstatic when they announced that 14 U.S. soldiers were killed in a helicopter crash in Iraq. Is it because it makes Bush look bad? Do you get the same impression about the mainstream media?

I believe the liberal media would strangle their own momma if they could report it as something President Bush caused.

Yes I think so. Modern US media is not about journalism at all though they like to portray themselves as journalists. Network news is entertainment, in fact, the news divisions of all three major TV networks are now located under the entertainment division. News can wildly profitable for networks as their production costs are low and if they can show viewer ratings they can charge a lot per minute for advertising. So news is presented in a way to titilate us and give us the trainwreck spectator feeling. So yes when something like that happens, they get off on it. Did the networks all break this week to show us the landing of the space shuttle because it was a historical moment? Nope, we have all seen that before. No they did that to be the first on the scene if it crashed. Did they have graphics and video already loaded on the crew in the event that it crashed? Yes they did. When it did not crash, they ended the story and went back to the regular programming. News is trash and has little to do with events and truth. Thirst for bad news? Yeah. I can recall when our local national guard unit returned from Iraq two years ago. We had a small army of news people here. Did they film the homecoming parade? Nope. Did they interview the gleeful relatives? Nope. Did they look at the wall of picture of projects that this enginner unit completed in Iraq such as schools, hospitals, water systems, power generation plants? Naw. When the soldiers were released from their formation and went into the armory to have a meal and to talk to family, the reporters went around looking for disgruntled soldiers who would critcize the war or the President. Finding none they left, a virtual caravan of microwave trucks and stretch limos (yeah we had some heavy hitters here for this and they are stars you know). The event was not reported at all on the network news. Is news biased? Hell yeah.

I quit watching them years ago. I mean, look at how Dan Rather totally flushed his career to get "the idiot Bush". Who's the idiot Dan? The only people that give Dan Rather any face time now, are people like Larry King, Bill Maher, Jon Stewart, and Objective Keith Oberman. These guys are definitely stalwarts of journalistic integrity.

It's fun to watch Walter Cronkite (the most respected man in journalism) jump on the "get Bush" bandwagon.

Remember folks for 35 years all we had in this country was ABC,NBC and CBS. They all had the same opinions and ran the same slant on their stories. The reason Fox is kicking butt, is because the major networks refused to allow for any other opinions. They are all stuck in 1968, along with the Demoncrat Party.

Its not just the Iraq war; when anything bad happens anywhere it gives these reporters meaning to their otherwise pointless jobs of talking, talking, talking but doing nothing.
