I live in Michigan, and my birthday is Sept 1st. I was supposed to go to Las Vegas for the weekend with my friend, but she bailed on me. I dont want to spend the weekend by myself. Where can I go closer to home that is a day or two long? I thought Cedar Point, but if anyone has any other ideas, please pass them along to me. Thanx.

I'm like 20 min from Detroit. I can go there anytime. I want something different. Something I cant do all the time cuz i have two kids. (But they arent coming with me for those 2 days)

I wouldnt mind treating myself, but if I dont have anyone to enjoy it with I will get depressed and be lonely. I want someone there with me, without them having to worry about coming up with all the money too.

I'm a Detroiter and I have family near Lake Michigan I visit. Theres all kinds of things to see. Holland, or Saugatuck, Grand Haven are places I visit to get away from the city. Good food, sight see, boats, entertainment and only 2 1/2 hours to 3 hours from The D. Grand Rapids is on the way there, go right through the fast growing city. Happy Birthday.

Cedar Point is good but it might be crazy around Labor Day weekend.
If gambling is desired, there is a boat just over the MI border in Indiana. It's the Blue Chip boat in Michigan City. Indiana Dunes National Seashore is right there for hiking and sand beaches.
Niagara Falls is nice that time of year as well.

Wellington would probably be fine for you. Crime is bad in PBC, but Wellington is immune to a lot of the problems. 450 will get you a nice newer(READ-Hurricane proof) 4 bedroom home in the top notch Wellington school districts. Wellington itself is home to upscale shopping, and is in close proximity to WPB and what is has to offer. Snobby people, though, and WPB is becoming a war zone.

May not be much consolation but treat yourself like a princess for a day.
Go get a makeover,do some shopping and get something you want.Find a concert to go to even if it is a regional group.Then treat yourself to a diner and relax.
