Hello!

When doctors have good ol' prod and a poke around its usually to feel the uterus and of course the position of the baby. At 9 weeks though, (which is when you say you went for your doctor's visit) baby was still very tiny and they may not be able to feel it first time.

(My midwife had exactly the same experience with my baby, even though the scan had been fine and all was well!)

The first time she felt around my tummy and felt the baby and my uterus was when I was around 14 weeks pregnant when baby had grown a little more.

As a guide though, I'd say that as long as you've not experienced any heavy bleeding, or pain (or both at the same time) then baby is still in there and doing his/her best to take as much of your energy as he/she needs to grow and become stronger, therefore giving you less to worry about, including the worry that there's something wrong (although, the worry that there's something wrong is something all mums-to-be feel at times and is 100% pure and perfectly natural and normal!

Do you have a date for your next appointment at all when you can attend and ask some more questions about baby?

I remember you saying that resources where you are are very limited and you don't have regular midwife of doctor appointments-is there a hospital with a ante-natal or labour ward where you can visit a midwife or doctor to get them to have a look?

At the moment though, doctor's haven't told you that you have anything to worry about, so you shouldn't worry about it too much. Its not good for you or your little lodger!

Take care of yourself hun, and remember we're always here to help you as best as. XX

There just feeling for your uterus..Your fine....They did that to me also...And i had my first ultra sound at 6 weeks to see exactley how far along i am...And now at 32 weeks i go in friday and he will measure me and tell me how big my uterus is...at 30 weeks it was 29cm...They measure you when you start around 26-30 weeks but every doctor is different but starting about 10-15 weeks they will see if they can hear the babys heart beat and when they find it they will do that every time you go in for the remaining of your pregnancy....No baby nothing is wrong with your little one....Congrats on your little blessing from god.......Take care....Hoped this helped

What they are trying to feel is your uterus. The uterus isn't large enough to be palpable (felt) yet and won't be for a few weeks yet so don't worry.
No doubt you'll be having a scan very soon which should reassure you that the baby is doing just fine.

You doctors are oldschool and uneducated. Pushing on your belly during early pregnancy doesnt do anything. In most cases you feel the hardness of the swelling uterus, but thats not always the case, especially if you're over weight, or your uterus is tilted or any other number of things.

Dont stress it.
