You didn't state where you are located but I would think if your personal medical information was made public and you suffered any type of loss you would have a grounds against both parties.

Though I would doubt much would be obtained from suing the employee, unless of course it was a doctor.

Medical records are private/protected information. The only way I can see it being legal to release this info would be if it was concerning a crime you are being accused of. Hard to say since you didn't give the circumstances that it was released for.

You bet your sweet bippie. A friend of a friend of mine just won a very generous lawsuit over that very situation. The clinic and the employee both found at blame. My friend's friend will never have to work another day in her life.

You have to be able to prove they were specifically speaking about you; there have to be identifying factors such as your name mentioned. Otherwise, they could be speaking about ANYONE with the same condition/problem.
