Breaking laws is not a phenomena restricted to Indians. If people in U.S.A or other western countries did not break any laws there would be no police or prisoners in these countries. It is human nature to make mistakes and later repent for it. All the above mentioned offences take place even in western countries also. In India the population of over a billion people makes it more likely that some crime or torts are committed but generalizing this into a national trait is not acceptable. For people to be law abiding there must be elimination of poverty, universal access to quality educaiton, and good quality jobs. All the above acts are crimes/torts under indian laws and are punishable with imprisonment or fine. It is not possible to police the people so as to prevent crime, if people were jailed for each and everything this would only violate human rights. Indian statutes and law enforcement are among the best in the world.

All these offences are seen everywhere in India the numbers are big because the population is huge but the crimes are in proportion to the population probably less.

What would happen to the US if it had as much population volume and density as India, guess murders would become a routine affair.

The only major crime done by Indians is to not stop its population growth and allow the poor to breed fast and let the kids suffer under inhuman conditions.

Although I agree with dadw comments mostly, I disagree with other caste comments. I think large poor population is basic the reason for the questions that were asked by originator. Whether caste or no caste ( and remember and recollect that caste system was not designed to be this way but manipulated by people in power since ancient times and today the same people called politicians ) every where in the world for different reasons by different group of people, they cause or have been causing this agony to common public. Keep blaming caste system will be incorrect when today's Indian politics and policies are committing the same logical blunder of caste system in a different way today ( if you think logically ).

Is India the only country you think this stuff happens in? The people of India are human and the number of poor people is huge. The cast system controls who can even have access to the job market so crime of property are going to happen. Sexual crimes happen usually because of some child abuse which happens a lot in a caste system as the lower caste are constantly seen as human garbage for the use of the upper class.

yes, i think that indians think that they have a birth right to break laws. in small trivail things like while driving , drive on wrong side for taking short cut. and take pride in breaking law. punishment ? question does not arise. because the person responsible to excute punishment, himself breaks the law. there is one proverb in gujarati " aav re bhai harakha , aapne bew sarakha ' that means law breaker and person to excute it , sailing in same boat.

ya but again it depends upon the kind of law u have broken.
if its a law which is not punishable by act than its fine like a person spitting on roads, even if a police man watches him he cannot punish him because act has not passed it. n regarding others yes if u murder someone than law will definately puunish u.
thus depends wat law r u breaking.

The reason is that we feel proud of being Indians for all its ills. This is the root cause of our nation's failure.

And it is in the interests of some people and they want us to remain fools feeling proud of ourselves.
