Before forwarding any type of warning email or unusual story?
I do.

Great site, isn't it?! And I find that I'm getting less and less of that kind of mail since people started checking things out first.

Yup, that's where I found out that the "Mars as big as the moon" email was a urban legend. There are several other sites that provide similar services, but I don't remember them.

Actually I very rarely forward warning email as the majority of them are basically a form of spam, and some have been bouncing around the net for years.

I certainly do, without fail. I have a real problem with those forwards that even so-called knowledgeable people tend to believe...particularly those that aim to strike fear in people...e.g., fraudulent health scares; emails about missing or dying children that are neither missing or dying etc etc etc...OR the ones about Bill Gates and others giving money if you forward the email to 1500 people! LOL

I check Snopes when I get an email that sounds like it may not be true. Then if it's a hoax or urban legend, I reply it back to the person who sent it and tell them they've been had. Nobody ever thanks me for that though.

I love snopes.com, but I don't check it before I forward my E-mails - because I never forward my E-mails. EVER! Majority of forwarded E-mail is bilge.

Yes. Even looked up one about Jane Fonda, and I hated like heck to send the Snopes page back to the person who'd e-mailed me, telling him that his information was not correct.

I cannot abide that woman, but there's enough truth out there that we needn't resort to falsehoods.

My daughter enlightened me about Snopes.

I have it on my opening page and check out the junk daily. I get lots of 'bogus' warnings and strange pics. etc. I usually tell the ones that sent them about real facts.

consonantly, then if snopes says it is false or a hoax I send the information back to the person that sent the original email..
