hi guys,

I have two desktops and one laptop connected together with a wifi router.. now i want to make one desktop as kinda small server.. so that i can access its drive on my laptop, but at the same time i do want the other desktop to access that drive or few shares..

So is it possible ?

what i thought was to make two groups and add the laptop and the other desktop into the groups individually, and then assign persmissions to groups.. but i am unable to add groups.. i donn know how to do it ?

Do i have to make a domain ? or what ?

plese help me thanks :)

Share out the hard drive of the "server" computer. When you share it, you are able to set up permissions and passwords for access to the drive. Give the password to the user of the computer that needs access to the drive, and not to the other computer users.

To be able to restrict the computer's by group, you would have to create a domain. It requires either XP Pro or Vista Ultimate to do a domain. You can not set up a domain on Xp or Vista Home editions.
