About a week ago, when I was having a day with my young lady. I was a terrible day weather wise but went and got some ordinary sliced bread, originally there was just a swan there when we got back lol, but didn't take long before the ducks appeared.
Love it when we walk by the river as feeding the ducks brings such a lovely smile to my sweetheart.

Years ago. When I was receptionist at Sunderland's main YMCA, I worked just opposite our town centre park, complete with duck pond and would give them a loaf of bread every dinner time.
More recently, I used to cross a field to get home from work ... before I moved here ... and seagulls would congregate on it. I'd buy a stottie on the way home from a nightshift and feed them. They grew to expect it and would flock around me as soon as I appeared.
I struck a deal with them. I would give them a fresh, huge stottie every morning as long as if I was ever attacked, they would perform a re-enactment of The Birds. They were happy with that arrangement.

Oh dear not in a while but feed the ducks, swans, Brent geese, seagulls, crows and a little robin red breast because I know where she hangs out. I normally try and give them brown bread.

...good question....but where I live, there are Loons on the lakes more than ducks and I go to "watch" them...they are tremendously large and elegant birds and when they take flight...it's like a Jumbo Jetliner taking off (well, you get the idea)
