I am the nominated first aider at our work place to which the initial first aid course my employer sent me on to get qualified was three years ago. That certificate has now expired and my concern is that if I treat somone in my workplace now and complications arise, am I legally responsible. Any advice is appreciated.

If you do not get re-certified and someone sues you the Organization that tests and issues the certification will not back you up.

St Johns Ambulance will help you legally if you are certified by them and follow their procedures.

In Ontario there is a Good Sumaritan Law that protects someone who helps a person in need of first aid.

Check your Local, State/Province, Federal Laws and legistlation on Work Place Safety First Aider requirements.

Good Luck

you need to get re-qualled. Depends on country for legal complications, but if someone needs treatment still treat them, dont stand back and let them suffer
