You should only need parental consent if you are under 18 - but that is for the US. I'm not sure where you're located, but you can get married on your own if you're 23.

Are we talking residency of the United States or some other country? In the US, legal age of consent is 18 (and is the same for just about every other free-thinking country I'm aware of).
I think you might mean the age of recommendation, not consent. I could not imagine it being 25 ANYWHERE, where you'd have to get consent from your parents to be married.
As for going behind your parents' back...whether its 15 or 25, it is WRONG. If the proper age of consent IS 25, think about the fact that you have only a maximum of 2 more years (probably less) before you'd no longer need their permission.
Wait it out....its not like they're saying you CANNOT marry the guy...just that you need to wait.

As others have said, legal age of consent depends on where you live. That age is 18 almost everywhere. If you're 23, then you don't need your parents' permission to get married. It is nice, however, to have their blessing. If you are of legal age but your parents don't approve, then you can have a civil wedding. In that case, a judge or (depending on where you live) appropriate state official can perform a brief ceremony and legalize your marriage.

In USA every person age 21 is legally an adult, no longer a minor or juvenile. An adult can legally vote, buy alcohol and tobacco, and enter into legal contracts including marriage. Go to your local county's courthouse and ask what requirements (things like having picture ID, filling out some paperwork) are for marriage.
You can also ask if lists of marriages are sent to local newspapers or otherwise made public. In most places, it is only if the couple requests it and pays a fee that a marriage announcement appears in the newspaper. But ask so that you know for sure.
In any county, marriage is 'a matter of public record' -- that means anybody can go to the courthouse and look at a list of marriages made in that county. So it's not TOTALLY secret. But most people are not going to check the county marriage records every week to find out whether YOU have been married.
If you want to be especially secretive, get married in county not so close to home. There is nothing wrong with telephoning the courthouse of that county for information instead of visiting in person. Just tell everyone on the phone "I want information about getting married in ____ County."
Congratulations and good luck!

Well, when I get married (in a couple years) i'll be 20, and i'm sure my parents wont be exactly thrilled at the idea, but it'll be my decision, not theirs. I guess it really depends on what state you live in. I live in Georgia and when you turn 18, u can get married w/o parental consent. If your parents arent really happy about it, tell them that its your decision, and that although theirs matters, you can go on with out them. I dont know about the secret marriage thing, i mean, ppl go to the court house, or go to other states to get married, but again, it all depends on what state your in. Good Luck!!

Where are you getting married? In the US, once you are 18 you can legally get married to whomever you want without legal consent from parents. You may still want consent or blessing for yourself, but it is not required by law.

What country are you in?
If you are over 18 you do NOT need any consent from family to marry in the USA.
Check your country/state for what can and cannot be allowed.
