when you "wake up" your not fully awake, your eyes are open and you can see what's going on in your room but your mind is still sleeping and dreaming.
Your just imagining the people.
I know it must be scary, but it's just your imagination- the people aren't real.
I hope soon you'll stop having these dreams so you can get a good nights sleep!

You need to ask yourself a few questions about when you see the people around your bed. The first thing you must know is that they are not real. Second, you need to think about whether you were fully awake. If you were fully awake, you could move, talk, etc as you normally would. Also, were the lights in your room on or off? Many people who experience night terrors and sleep paralysis were actually between sleep and being awake when they see things. Also, many find that turning a light on helps as well. If you were completely awake, again, next time it happens, turn the lights on. If the lights were already on, then it is possible that you have schizophrenia where people hear and see things that are not there. Analyze the situation first, and once you've determined the cause, seek a therapist or psychiatrist to help you take steps on fixing this.

No offence but, are you smoking wacky backy? If yes then you need to lay off as you could well be starting with mild psychosis... be warned it gets worse and may result in a short stay in a mental hospital. However, you may be seeing Spirits in which case sit up and talk to them and see what they want from you. Lots of people make a very good living from Mediumship. Write down what the Spirits say, they will have messages for people you know. Good luck !

Talk to a family member or a friend and then go to a doctor and tell them what has been happening at night when you wake up
and dont stop asking questions until you get an answer out of your doctor about what is going on with you.
Good Luck.

I think that you are dreaming, and thinking about it before you are going to sleep...They aren't dead, they are very much alive in your head...but then again, they just might be a bunch of spooky ghosts, sent in to terrify you,..they might just be from Yahoo Answers, and they have decided to make your life a living hell..but then again,...I wouldn't know, I just got the info from the ones hanging out at the foot of my bed.

No your not mad.Do you know these people? Do you have some unresolved issues, with them? Are you needing them to protect you. Don't be frightened ask them what they want? Otherwise ignore it if they dont interact with you.
Perhaps you need to have a more relaxing atmosphere to be able to sleep well. Give yourself a relaxing routine see if it helps.

It sounds like you are experiencing sleep paralysis. Are you unable to move during these episodes. Go to your doctor and ask for some help.
