look at both the exchange rate plus future expected earning plus living expenses
It's hard to gage for me cause on one end it really expensive in England but on a business side of things the outlook could be incredible. As for Australia sure it's cheaper and cities like Sydney and Melbourne top the list; as places to live... so which one shall I chose?

I have a high paying job (with my own company) here in Australia - about double to triple the average 'wage' plus profits etc.

I recently had an offer to do an equivalent job in London paying similarly high wages and bonuses. It was not economically viable to do so. Although the salary was much higher in Australian dollar equivalent, the cost of housing was (in real terms) four to five times what I pay now. If however I could have the same job in a regional city like Manchester (which was vaguely offered), the equation became much more favourable. If I was living in Sydney here, I think Manchester would have been relatively VERY attractive.

Like Britain, the variation here is dramatic. Even the cost of living difference between Sydney and Melbourne is (if you want to live in a nice place) very dramatic. I'm in Regional NSW near Canberra and couldn't afford Sydney let alone London!

For adventurous business people the economic climate in Australia is fantastic and there are very few barriers to success.

My answer is emotionally based its Australia for sure 5 years ago I went to England for a holiday for 9weeks and lasted 9 days( 2 of those days were spent at the airport trying to get the hell out of there) It was cold grey wet and depressing. Australia is a great place to live no matter what the economy. Regarding Gothicmama's comments yeah and you have to watch out for the kangaroos running down Pitt Street, Sydney as well thats if the spiders and snakes haven't got ya!!!!!

I'd look at travel expenses. Will you need to leave Australia for Europe, if so how many times? Once a year? Once a lifetime?
