I have always read and have heard people say, "Don't dress like an American when you are in Europe." Well, I will be going to Paris and London and want to know, what should I wear? Yes, I have jeans and sneakers and T-shirts. How should I change my wardrobe so that I not only look less like and American, but also blend in and not look so much like a tourist? Thanks for your input!

Bring a sweater and a light weight waterproof jacket too.
Shorts out of season are the clear sign of USA tourist, as are button up shirts in loud colours.

Some people will stand out as tourist whatever they wear, others blend in, without seeming to try.
Take a slightly old day pack, like one you could have used to bring to work or school for a while.
Put your camera in you pack rather than round your neck. (More risk if the bag is stolen but less risk of the camera being stolen as people do not see you wearing it.)
If your clothes are slightly shabby, do not worry, you will fit in better.
Visible belt bags are a tourist thing too, but an under the clothing belt is good.

And look around, see what all the tourists do to make them look like ugly tourists, and do not do the same.

I am one of the lucky ones that seem to blend in wherever I go, even when I wear my camera on my belt and have a belt bag people of the country ask me for local directions.

I could take denims, as so much persons in Europe put on them, and travelers, (additionally the ones from inside Europe,) will without doubt put on them. T-shirts or excellent tops are high-quality, a blouse with lengthy sleeves a well factor to take and in addition deliver a sweater or purchase one in Europe while you begin feeling the bloodless. (Great memento object.) A rainproof mild jacket is mainly wanted, fall in Europe may also be rainy, however so can any time of the yr. For seashore put on, deliver what you could put on at dwelling. For sneakers, turn flops are OK for side of the time do deliver them for a difference and for indoor use, however when you've got running shoes or runners or anything you name your sneakers for outside physical games, deliver them. You will stroll all day, everyday for a massive side of your go back and forth in climate that's chillier than you're used to. Ballet slippers will depart your ft hurting, larger stick with turn flops if you're used to these. Or purchase a couple of game sneakers while in Europe and also you suppose the desire. Added: I have no idea if that Christian has ever been in Europe. I see persons in denims in every single place, all social categories and all people beneath 60, many over 60 too incidentally. Yes, while going to a membership the younger persons mainly get dressed up, however every day reside and traveller recreation, denims and T-shirts.

Jeans, t-shirt and trainers (sneakers) should be fine - don't wear a baseball cap though - you'll get called a chav most likely lol. Everyone in London is a tourist, so don't stress too much about it, but weather in Europe is variable & un-predictable - something to bear in mind!

Edit:
Also, despite what people recommend - dont do the whole - 'wearing your backpack on the front of you' thing - makes you stand out like a cat in a pack of wolves & makes you more of a target for pick-pocketing.
