Great job, lousy pay!

I'd say that the children are definitely the most worthwhile aspect of teaching. Nothing beats the feeling of knowing you have made a positive difference in the life of a child. When a child asks you a question that tells you he is listening and wants to know more, or doesn't quite understand so please try again...when she gives you that smile that says I find something to love in you, even though most of my life is awful...when their faces light up with that Ah Ha! glow that tells you have turned on the light for them. There isn't any feeling that compares with those moments.

Challenging? It can be those same children, when they're not listening, when they don't like you (because even the ones that love you don't always like you!), when you see that blank look that says Are you speaking the same language as me? But of course, there's ALWAYS the challenge of money. There's never enough to give the kids the experiences you really want to give. But a creative teacher will find a way to do it anyway. And bureaucracy. Sometimes you KNOW what is best, but it just isn't politically correct, or it doesn't fit in with the administration's plan, or it isn't the most current educational trend. Oh well. A good teacher will struggle to find a way to use the current method, current trend, current politically correct philosophy, to benefit the children anyway.

That's it in a nutshell! If you're still undecided, volunteer some time in a preschool classroom and a kindergarten classroom to gain a better understanding of what goes on there. It can be very stressful, and very wonderful at the same time, so it really depends on what you enjoy!

To be honest, if u r frm Malaysia apparently being a kindergarten owner will be better than a teacher coz the pay as a kindergarten teacher in a Malaysia sucks no matter how high your qualification is. However if u r talking about country in Singapore, Australia, Hong Kong the pay that they give u is quite reasonable. Hope u make the right choice.

It depends on the kind of person you are. If you like kids and think you can handle kids who are just starting school then yes, it is a good job for you. What I mean is, the kids will cry and over-react to teasing from other kids and, some kids especially, will get upset about leaving parents. If you think you can handle all these things, you will enjoy the job. Little kids need good teachers at this age so the go into primary school ready and eager to learn. So basically-it depends!

I love it. I will say, however, it can be a very stressful job at times. I say "at times." If you're considering it, here's what I think everyone should need to know, but they don't necessarily teach you in training:

--Handling a classroom is difficult. It takes time. Many teachers come out of training having no clue what to do in this regard. And student teaching and assistant teaching is not the same as regular teaching. You'll need to just be thrown into the classroom as the one in charge and see what I mean. But expect it to be difficult at first.

--You will need to teach 2 groups of people: Children and Parents. Parents know what's best for their children (generally) about many things. But many do not realize they don't know very much about how that translates into the classroom. So your job will be partially to show parents what is developmentally appropriate for children and how you are supporting that in your classroom. So make sure you know childhood development and make sure you use everything you know in your classroom. It's not as easy as it sounds, but it can be done. Many people see the final product of a classroom and do not see the work that went into making that final product.

--It's an EXTREMELY important job. I would be willing to bet that the problem we're having in schools is being handled very poorly because of the simple fact that they're focusing on it too late. It's much harder to teach a high schooler how to love learning. It's much easier at a younger age. We would save more people's education if we put a value of learning at an earlier age than a high school standardized test. So being a preschool and kindergarten teacher is an extremely important job.

It is a very important job and usually a very underpaid job. If you are doing it to make a difference in children's lives and help teach children to love learning, then go for it. If you want to make money, find something else. You need a lot of patience and a willingness to be flexible. You also need to be resourceful and creative to be successful. It can be a exhausting, frustrating job. But it is rewarding, too. My suggestion is go volunteer for a day in a pre-school. See what really goes on. Then decide if it's right for you.

These are important jobs for the world. Children need good influences early in life to do well later in school, and in life. The only negative is the pay is not the highest you can get with a college education.

positive: 1. you enjoy the simplicity of life, actually it will be the kids who will re teach you all of the basics in life.
2. it is so rewarding to see a in his/her first time to write, read, recite, and sing
3.you'll receive lots of surprises, like a flower picked just outside the classroom, or your picture personally painted by the kid.
4.you'll get lots of prayers for kids pray often and better sometimes compared to adults.

Little Sacrifices:
1. Expect many unexpected and additional task, like when the child goes to pee or poo
2.you will act aside from being a teacher in the classroom, a mother, yaya, janitor, engineer, all around in short
3.expect to see and talk often with the kids parents especially for the first timers in school

The good thing about being Pre-school teacher is:
- You get to see cute kids.
- Sometimes you learn INTRESTING things from the kids.

The bad thing about being a Pre- school teacher is:
- The kids cry alot.
- Kids complain that they want to go home.

There you go, being a kindergarten teacher is almost the same thing so yeah... Good luck!

hey, if you're having fun, why not?, if you're worried about the pay, i think it would be fine, just as long as you are happy with what you are doing, everything will be just a-ok, although there are some annoying kids, but still they are kids, they've got a lot to learn, especially from you guys, any job is a job as long as it has its morals.
