a catholic believes that your soul will either go to heaven or hell, depending on how you do things while you were still alive. good people go to heaven while those bad go to hell... and some religions believe on reincarnation, like your life have a purpose(mission) that if you dont accomplish that while you were still alive, you will be reincarnated to a different body in order to continue what you have not accomplished... and some believes that if you do good, you will be reincarnate to a higher level than what you were before, and if you do bad, you will either become an animal or worse than that..

Well, it was a good idea to include your view and your family views. You should also probably tell him the views of some other religions, just so he knows what else people think.

I personally choose to believe the J.W.'s view on life after death. It all depends on your religion. I don't believe God sends us to hell to burn eternally. That is one sure thing I know. If you follow scripture it tells us "God is Love." The J.W.'s do not believe "Love" and eternal hellfire go together in the same sentence basically. I also choose to believe that God will resurrect his people after Armageddon and bring the Earth to become a paradise as he originally planned. I'd choose this over becoming a "spirit" anyday.

You asked about 'life after death'.
Well, first understand 'who' dies?
Only the body dies, not you who are in this body which got built in your mother's womb.
So no question of life after death because your body dies and you leave it to be cremated or buried and 'you' begin another spell of bodily life in another body.
It is different if, at present you can't experience it but it is so.

In my opinion, God has a plan for us after death. If we are faithful to him, he will reward us when that time comes.

That's very normal.

I tell my kids my views and other common views they might encounter. But, I tell them it's up to them to decide since no one knows for sure.
