Every Muslim is obligated to Jihad.They are invoked into providing support in one form or another .The respondent called Pangel is trying to water down it's true meaning.

Jihad means struggle either ideological or physical .
War is a jihad as is the struggle for abstinence from alcohol and drugs. the struggle for faith is Jihad to an Islamic.

Jihad means "holy war' and it is when Islamic exteremists declare war on a people or nation in the name of Islam

Not much...I guess holy war - engaged as a last resort and to jusfify all of the crazy s**t they get up to - personally really gets my goat - if you want to murder people just say it is becuase you are an uncaring bast*** - and not making it in the name of allah or god or whatever...pathetic. imho.

the word jihad doesn't mean holy war...
it means "hard work"
that's the Arab meaning
the Islamic meaning is defending the truth no matter what it costs you, without hurting or insulting others...

my understanding of the Holly war against the infidels (non-believers of Muslim God).... might have had certain tribal/ historical reasons long time ago, I don't think it should be followed today... but it's just my personal opinion.
