God, the source of all things. (Not to be confused with "gods," powerful spirits.) This makes "God" comparable to the Tao, though the Tao usually said to not be God because its not a person nor an object of worship -- but that is largely semantics.
Time and space are one continuum, the future and past are just different places -- so the future already exists, its just somewhere else. This does not conflict with free will -- its not that you don't make choices, just that you ARE making your future choices in a place called "the future" -- you and your choices are real, but still part of the pattern. You will exchange many atoms and molecules in your life -- you are not mater, you are an evolving pattern -- a pattern with at least four dimensions (height, width, depth, and DURATION), and your choices are part of you, part of your pattern. Your pattern is part of the pattern of all reality. This makes sense whether you believe in a God or not.
"Fate" has also been used to refer not to a plan but to the source of the "plan," the origin of all things, weaving reality, personified as a old woman or three -- but often it has been said that the goddess of fate is only personified face of fate, Old Fate being beyond person-hood. As the source of all things, and their return, this Western Paleo-Pagan idea has some similarity to Tao. Thus it could be said that Old Fate, the Tao, and what I idiosyncratically call "God" are different names for the same thing.
God transcends the physical universe, but also exist through out it, in all places and things.

Atheist here.
I would define God as simple as I could to give him the best chance, an intelligent agent that created the universe.
Location: He would have to be logically existent but not necessarily physical.
Why he exists: He was logically possible and there was no reason for him not to exist, unless there is a bias or limit I would have to assume he existed because of this.
(Problem is I find it easier to believe there was a universe than there was a very complex God who then created a universe and there are other reasons too but that is all I really need for now)
Do I believe in fate/destiny? Yes and no. I'm not a determinist but on the macroscopic level it is deterministic enough that it events are basically pre-destined. And of course I don't believe free will. It doesn't seem complete (so far I think the best explanation of free will is the assumption that people can make decisions that are uncaused) and it horribly lacks evidence (also it is very god-of-the-gaps type).

God:
G = Generator --- One who generates everything
O = Operator ---- One who cares everything
D = Destroyer ---- one who diminishes everything so that he can generate again
This is the definition of God that I know. He is supreme and everywhere. The modern string theory is now going closure to GOD thing. This theory will be able to describe what and how this universe is made. But, we all know there are always 3 kinds of particles - positive (protons), negative (electrons) and neutral (neutrons) apart from various other particles. These 3 characters of GOD are basically the 3 kind of particles that constitute all the matter and eventually whole universe. The energy therein is also have 3 different kind of phases. But, when you combine all the 3 characteristics into 1 then that creates the Element (like Hydrogen, Oxygen, Carbon, and so on) or in other words the Base and Body for living things. Thus, 3 combines into one and this gives the planets, galaxies, universe.... and the base for life. Therefore, scientifically, my GOD is everywhere and can be seen in Protons/Electrons/Neutrons and in all the elementary particles. His powers are immense and scientists are harnessing his powers to claim wonderful discoveries according to his will as our brains are also made of his Matter and Chemicals.
I am masters in aerospace engineering and have spend 26 years of my life in studying the science. I know GOD is everywhere even if we accept his existence or not.
For Atheists: You can not believe that you are constituted by elementary particles and the energy within those elementary particles. But there they are and will be forever. You can negate their existence but they will not tell you to accept their existence. GOD is within and outside. He is not a magician though he has all the powers distributed in each and every particle in the universe. He will not do anything for anyone. You need to understand that the GOD within you will help you if you are able to use his powers that are within YOU. So, try to understand "I" first. You will meet GOD... Indeed. Einstein had got the glimpse of GOD as all his theories describe the characteristics of GOD. He was always telling that I am not here to discover the particles and forces, I am here to know what has made those particles and how they have been made. He was the true believer of GOD though he was unaware about this fact that he was just trying to search the supreme.

Saint Thomas Acquinas defined God as Pure Being. Saint James defined God as the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shifting shadow. Many people define God as the creator and ruler of the universe. Some define God as the lover of their souls. Some people who have survived horrible, bitter lives call God the Great Abuser in the Sky. Rabbi Benjamin said that whatever your conception of God is, that is a part of what God is. I guess I see Him as a little bit of all those things. I do believe that some things are destined, but people can miss their destiny and if they don't pick up what they are supposed to do, someone else will do it if it's one of those things that is destined to happen.

God is the infinite-personal-creator that is a multi dimensional being who can exist in and out of our space time continuum. I believe this to be the God who is there; the God of the Bible.
Aren't fate and destiny the same thing?
I believe we make choices daily that adds or takes from our character in the human drama and we may one day prevail as the heroes or quite unfortunately the villain based on daily choices.

I don't define God and He doesn't need my definition - He exists without my trying to imperfectly define Him as I would like Him to be. I merely try to understand Him.
That said, read the chapter entitled "What is GOD? Where is GOD?" in my book: "So Many Gates to the City... A Guide for the Modern Perplexed - A Book About Jewish Belief and
Understanding, and Making Some Sense Of It", available from Five Star Judaica in Wesley Hills, NY. It addresses your other question and probably many more you haven't asked yet. Read some samples from the book at http://understandingjudaism.com

Atheist perspective: Myth perpetuated by fear (of death and the bad outcomes) as well as ignorance (just listen to a creationist proclaim the earth is only 10,000 years old).
Regarding fate and destiny, not beyond a person's abilities and perhaps a little luck, but certainly nothing supernatural.

God is. The Great I Am. how would anyone pretend to be able to describe an infinite God with a finite mind. God is a spirit. he is everywhere. the bible says he is a very present help in time of trouble. that means that he is there when you need him. There is real power in the Name of Jesus. there have been several occasions in my life when i have had to call on the name and he delivered me. i would have to write a book. He is as close as the mention of his name. what is God to me? He is my savior. My father. My mother. My best friend. My peace and comfort, My joy and hope. He is everything to me.

God says if all oceans become ink and you add that much more ink in it and consume all this ink writing about me or in my praise, you won't be able to do full justice with me.
Al-Quran. I don't remember in which section of Quran I read. When I will find it I will quote you Surah and Ayah also.

(Christian - accepted God as real since practically birth - and that is withOUT religion being shoved down my throught too!)
God is the creator who loves his creation so much that he died to save it. Not only that, but he seeks his creation and desires for the creation to hear him, and see that he has done well and praise him for his handiwork; to be grateful.
also, I believe that God has a glorious plan set down for your life before you are even born, and he will encourage you in that direction - it's your choice to follow it or not though.
