My family has containers that hold a gallon of water and my dad goes to store that sells water for like a quarter per gallon. And the containers has been refilled over and over for a least a year. (I find that sort of gross, and no one drinks out of them btw) Then we pour the water into our water dispenser, and we've been using that dispenser for a couple of months. We also keep water bottles and refill them (Arrowhead, Aquafina, Crystal Geyser , Nestle). Now I heard that some plastics can be toxic and refilling water bottles is bad because of bacteria and germs, etc. My mom shakes tap water inside the water bottles to wash them out (once in a while).

I told my dad I prefer buying water bottle packs from like Costco or somthing, but he said this way is cheaper and we can save money.

What's your opinion and your suggestion?
Whats the risk of refilling containers & water bottles?
How does it affect (effect?) our health?

Another question:
My eyes have been drying out for awhile.
I tried putting eye drops, and after awhile, they sort of dry out again.
Does drinking more water help?

I suggest you just wash out the plastic bottles after a long period of use. It's much more convenient than buying lots of bottles.

Your dad is probably the same as about 60 percent of all bottled water user. 20 percent would not be bothered to rinse and clean the containers so they simply ask new bottles to be delivered every week.
By the way, those are actually very cheap too. Your cost get very reduced that way.
All the water bottling companies have bottle washers and sterilizers, at least they explain that the process of sanitizing bottles in their plants are very rigorous.
If your bottles get cleaned by your mom, tell her to pour boiling water to sterilize the container in between re fills.

The most effective and economical healthy water source today is ordinary tap water after it is filtered and treated with electrolysis. Kangen Water is water that has gone through a special electrolysis process that changes the PH of the water to alkaline. Kangen is a japanese word that means to put back to original condition. This will eliminate paying for water that is not as healthy for you. You must steer clear of plastics that can release chemicals that could harm you. There are some plastics to avoid and I will leave the source information for you to look at. The most important characteristic of water may be related to its interaction with the energy fields of our body. Unfortunately all water is not equal in therapeutic effects to the body. Tap water can be harmful and bottled water is virtually dead and biologically inactive water. Kangen Alkaline Ionized water may assist the body to hydrate, lubricate and energize living cells.

I think you're fine. I don't really understand why it would be so bad. I usually buy a big plastic water bottle and refill it everyday at school.

I think you're wasting a ton of money just in fuel, municiple supply water should be fine, and have chlorine added from the supplier as an anti-septic. Call me kooky but, why don't you just buy a $6 Culligan water filter if you are that concerned ????

because when you do you get bacteria and such things in there. and if you have an open water bottle long enough the plastic starts to get in the water and thats not good either. thats why bottled water has an expiration date.
