Your theory has a logical flaw - if Muhammad wasn't native to the region, why would he have had an Arabic name? This would indicate that he adopted the name Muhammad later in life in line with his image as a holy man. But he could also have done this even if he had been native to the region, so the fact that it wasn't a common name before doesn't really seem to provide much evidence one way or the other whether he was a member of the Quraysh tribe. It also seems unlikely that he would have claimed to be if he wasn't, as this would presumably have been widely known amongst his contemporaries. What seems very clear is that it certainly wasn't a common name before Muhammad, but it's not clear whether it was simply an unusual name or whether he really was the first person to have the name. Ibn Ishaq's "Life of Muhammad" indicates that there was a known person called Muhammad who died in 570 (around the time the prophet was born), which if true would demonstrate that the name already existed. You should remember that names are trendy - many of todays most popular names hardly existed a few years ago. Also, a friend of mine was intentionally given a brand new name by her mother to make her unique.

In the name of Allah, extremely merciful, especially merciful...
Peace be upon you Brother, first of all know that this portal is not an Islamic knowledgebase or any Islamic scholar is sitting and waiting for answering about Islam here. For getting proper answer and scholarly answers, there are a lot of websites of scholars and you can put your query there, as of Bilal Philips, Abdul Raheem Green, Zakir Naik, Jaffer Idris, Ibn Uthaimeen's team and so on ...to note a few.
For your question, there are two videos here which have the answer for Prophet Muhammed's name in Various scriptures of the world...of course from an International scholar Zakir Naik.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=88TvfjBIOpk
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NGkZb1G80JY
And for the question of Prophet Muhammed's name in Quran itself, I hope you should read the Quran again with no prejudice and a clear eye!!
Here are some of the verse numbers which have the answer:
In 3:144, 33:40, 47:2 and 48:29.
May Allah, the All-Knowing, All-wise and All-merciful guide you back to the truth.Aameen.

Subhanallah, a muslim turned apostate. Wow! Actually possible. Okay, I loaned my book to a friend. Arab culture were especially proud of their lineage, hence Muhammad (birth name Abu Qasim) would use his father's first name as his middle name e.g Muhammad bin (son of) Abdul Mittalib bin Haashim(his grandfather)....I cannot go on quoting the exact genealogy because I do not have the book with me. but your question is not about the genealogy- you are questioning the presence or absence of Muhammad's name in pre-Islamic or Post-islamic texts. Now allow me to answer.
As pertaining to pre-islamic texts, well Islam was the named religion in the Qu'ran and was the name Islam and Muslims only made particular reference to Muhammad and the followers after him: Qur'an Chp 5 (Al Maidah) Verse 3 "...This day I have Perfected your religion for you, Completed My Favour upon you, and have chosen Islam as your religion..." Islam, by name, started at the time of prophet Muhammad. Pre- Islam...well there never no prophet has been named prior to his coming. Never. If this was done, so many would have changed their names to the name of a foretold prophet and try to make their own religion in claim to be a prophet. Instead, descriptions or simple fortellings have been set that a prophet would come and there would be some recognizeable traits. Muhammad in the Bible: John 14:15-16 "...keep my commandments. And I will pray the Father and He shall give you another Comforter that he may abide with you forever." Abide forever does not mean literal living, but a perpetual stay of his teaching.
John 15:26-27 "... but when the Comforter is come, whom I will send unto you from the Father, even the Spirit of truth, which proceed from the Father, he shall testify of me: And you shall also bear witness, because you have been with me from the beginning..." First statement of Islam: "I bear witness that there is none worthy of worship but Allah (God)..." Jesus is also mentioned by name in the Qur'an
Well I can't go on forever. Muhammad's name has been cited in the Qur'an dozens of times with direct or indirect reference:
Chp2 V119: "..Verily We have sent you Oh Muhammad with the truth..."
Chp2 V144 "...We have seen the turning of your (Muhammad's) face towards the heaven...so turn your face in the direction of Al Masjid Al Haraam..."
Chp81 V1" The prophet (Muhammad) frowned and turned away..."
And pertaining to hadith, that must be a joke right? Every hadith, except for a rare few, has Muhammads name in it bro! What book did you read?!! The whole "ahadith" literally means "Sayings or ways (stories) of the Prophet (Muhammad)"!! Every single narration, except a rare few, is about something he did or said. Just do a quick search of "hadith" or "Bukhari" on Yahoo and read a couple hadiths. They all start with someone repeating something they heard or saw Muhammad doing!
What kind of muslim were you?! That is like saying that you read the Qur'an and never saw the word "God" or Allah" mentioned in it. It is in there so many times that if you missed it, then you didn't even read the cover!
To conclude, any verdict or evidence alleged to Islam or God, or Muhammad, must be given with a cited reference or else be discarded or doubted. Islam is the only religion that can do that rightfully. As per predicting citation of the name "Muhammad"...well he was nothing more than a messenger to deliver a message. We make nothing great of Muhammad and any muslim knows that. He is a good example and the seal of prophets. Apart from that, he was just a man as he repeatedly said himself.
To everyone else: A question as the one posed is probably the least acknowledgeable question from a Muslim because there are countless evidence pertaining to the questions asked. That would be like calling a fisherman stupid and ask him why he fishes in the sea. Only someone who does not know the sea has fish would ask a question like that. Therefore if you even read the Qur'an, not even the whole qur'an, just 5 pages you would have your answered all except one of your question : the one regarding "pre-quranic citations". Bear in mind, that I am not even one of the more learned muslims, I have friends that could answer this question without flaw whereas I stumbled here and there. By the way, even non-muslim historians can tell you that Muhammad was from the tribe of Quraysh. Pitiful that you even called yourself a muslim. No disrespect, just saddening. There, your entire question answered, please ask more.

I shall be polite and brief.
Your question is a sad attempt at putting down Islam and the supposed logic you base your incriminating argument on is flawed.
The name Mohammad is clearly mentioned in the Quran; you claim to have read it so it is strange that you did not notice that one of the 114 chapters is entitled Mohammad.
He is named in Surah 33, verse 40 and Surah 47 is entitled Mohammad.
Bottomline: Your question is flawed and full of so much hatred that it lacks common sense and is self-contradictory.

It's not mentioned anywhere? Are you sure of that?
You (O Muhammad) was not a reader of any Scripture before it, nor did you write (such a Scripture) with your right hand, for then those who follow falsehood might (have a right) to doubt it. (al-Ankabut, 29.48)
If you are in doubt concerning that which We have sent down onto Our servant (Muhammad), then produce a chapter of the like thereof, and call your witnesses, supporters, who are apart from God, if you are truthful. (al-Baqara, 2.23)

The Oracle of Delphi predicted his arrival in the following:
"It shall come from among the pagan tribes, seething with hatred for woman and jews. Looo, shall it carve out a kingdom with its blade, leaving its victims to chose its religion or the grave.
You shall know it by its slaves, wives and soliders, as numerous as the stars. Loo shall it march till all are subjigated and the human race is no more"
