Seems to me that you are an Agnostic, rather than an athiest.
Agnostics are people who believe something when they physically see it with their own eyes.
There is nothing wrong in this at all. we all find our paths. I am a Pagan Hedgewitch, I found my spiritual path about 7 years ago. You will find yours eventually, in the meantime, just enjoy life for what it is.

God yes.
Heaven kind of
I think the idea of the design argument is kind of a compelling argument for god. Granted everything could have happend by chance but when you stop and look at the odds and calculate that if this happend any differently and that there is like a one in some odd billion chance of things happening the way they did, that it at least makes you ponder the possbility that everything might not be by pure chance (and i do believe in evolution).
Maybe god is real maybe he isn't. No matter if you are athiest or your not i think you would have to agree that either there was something that just always was (ie the universe) or then if you don't you would have to believe that some how something was created from absolute nothing or else why would there be anything? No matter if you believe in god or not the question of why is there anything instead of nothing will never really be able to be answered throughly by any athiest or any religous person because i just don't think our minds will ever really be able to comprehend that question. but considering no one can answer that question i think god is just as logical answer as any other when you really ponder why anything at all exists

Hey, I used to call myself an atheist. Although I have to add that I still respected others' opinions and didn't 'have a go' or continually try to be rude to them (like some people do on here).
Anyway, then something happened to a very close friend of mine...she went missing and was close to suicide.... I don't know why I did it but I asked for prayer for her ...I suppose because I was so desperate for her....within 10 minutes of that prayer she was found safe and well and taken to hospital...since that day I have believed that God saved her ....it wasn't that one thing alone it was lots of other things.
Anyway I went to church and I still had questions and lots of things that I needed answering. The Vicar and members of the congregation answered them honestly to me....the more I found out the more I wanted God in my life.
Who doesn't want all the hatred in the world gone? Who wouldn't want to help someone in distress?.....if you are curious just ask questions....why don't you believe?....why would you...? etc any question that is on your mind. If you have good Christians around you they will be able to answer honestly for you...
Some churches also run 'Alpha' course ...these are designed to answer questions and let you ask any question that you may have. They are not just for Christians they are for everyone...you can find out more using the source below or contact one of your local churches.

I was born Catholic, taught by Nuns - ugh! lost belief, went to the Priest to please my father. He said belief is a gift you may not have it but you are still one of God's children. I'm now happy to be Agnostic. We don't know - not one of us - even the believers - we don't know. The reason the fundamentalist's are so itchy, is that deep down they don't know either, and boy does it get to them.
You don't need religion to live well, read the philosophers, I like the Stoics, I also like Buddhism - a practical faith. What Jesus said as a philosophy is pretty good, it's all that divinity stuff followed by the big church, holy church stuff that's weird. This stuff is just what power crazed followers would do. Build the reputation of the big man and live off the suckers. The Muslim faith is the same - what Mohammed said was OK, but his followers!! They are split over his succession but believe that all Muslims should come to the aid of each other - except the others are not Muslims and should be treated as expendable. It's the arrogance that gets me. You believe but you don't know, and this gives you the right to send people to hell in the most horrible ways. Read Richard Dawkin "The God Delusion" good book, but I happen to believe that we have evolved to need to invent meanings for life, to have visions, to lead others, it's in our genes. He'd find that a bit depressing. I think it has to be managed. Currently we need a belief system in order to manage our conflicts, help manage the planet and direct us toward sanity. Not one of the churches or minor cults is showing any sign of taking on these
issues. Religious people seem to be quintessentially useless. At least science illuminates and explains and gives practical help even if its exploitation is causing problems. As a true child of the "Enlightenment" - keep on free thinking, if there's a just God he'll understand, if He/She is not just then we're all doomed anyway.

As a Christian I believe God is all around not just in heaven. What do you mean when you say you try to believe but you can't?
Believing in God isn't enough, the devil believes in Him because he was in heaven with Him before he fell so he knows He exists, it's about worshipping God and accepting Jesus died on the cross for you.
I know it's hard to comprehend as I was anti-church and anti-Christian for much of my life, but then Jesus came to me and I gave my life to Him and now I truly have life.
If you are seeking His love and the peace He can give you, attend and Alpha course, or read the Bible and pray that Jesus will revill Himself to you.

Believing in God can be a difficult thing to do. There are a lot of questions in life and very few of them have answers. That is where faith comes in. I think one of the biggest problems people have when it comes to God is misrepresentation. It's just fine to question God, you won't go to hell, just don't shut Him out. If you want God in your life openly ask Him. It may not happen overnight but you will find what you're looking for. One thing that has helped me throughout my life is to study for myself. People will try to twist God into what they see will serve their purpose. Search for yourself and leave an open mind. If you want God to come to you just ask! Happy searching!

Do you think God is powerless and he can not help us if
he was there?.If god is there why are so many people are
dieing with diseases and disasters.Does he like killing
and enjoying in the Heaven, why does he not help us?
what is happening in the world proves that God is only a myth and blind faith. God can not help any body.

I know without the slightest doubt that there is a God; I've felt His presence and He has answered my prayers.
Please, pray persistently and patiently to God to show you His truth. Keep on praying, even if it doesn't seem to be doing any good. Don't give up; He hears prayer. Get a Bible and start reading in the Gospel of John.
God has promised that He will never turn anyone away, and that those who seek Him will find Him. And believe me, it's well worth the trouble to find Him!
God bless you, sister.

i believe. i understand it's hard. i'm 18 and i use to think that i was to young to be a christian but when you give your life to christ everything is transformed. he takes all the sadness and depression from your life and replaces it with joy.
for me it's hard to not believe because there have been preachers that have said to me things, while they were praying for me, that no one knew. (no joke!) once a preacher told me that i was blessed with the gift of song and it wasn't a complete suprise to me because lately i had been feeling an urge to get up and sing in the choir.
learn the ways of god before judgeing it. something make much more sense when someone educated in the way of the lord explains it to you.

It's hard to believe that birds can fly, that fish breath under water, that waves can come into out TVs and make pictures but all these things are true. Why is it hard to believe something created all of this, something all knowing, all powerful?
