There is no dress code for courthouse weddings (which I'm guessing is the USA equivelent of registrar office) other than that dress code which applies to the courthouse in general, for example: "shoes must be worn". If you see female employees wearing trousers, then you can assume that female citizens on courthouse business are equally wecome to wear trousers. However, if you see that female clerks, secretaries, judges, etc are all wearing long white dresses -- you are in trouble.

You don't have to wear a dress, you can wear whatever you like, you know there are no rules that say "YOU MUST WEAR A DRESS" it's not the law, many people get married in their jeans, some girls even wear bikinis. If you don't want to wear a dress then don't, it's your choice.

i also hate being the center of attention.. and getting all dolled up yah know?
i actually found a wedding dress that isnt so bad for a wedding dress.. if you look about some you can find something pretty plain and without all that extra fluff and frills and lace and all that extra sparkly crap.. :) and still have a gorgeous looking dress..
if your really opposed to the dress.. you can probably find a nice pant suit.. :) in white or ivoryish colour if you wish..
or whatever colour you want cause its your day!!

Girl, if you want to marry this man then just get married. A wedding is what you make it and this is your day after all, so where what you want. They have beautiful white, or what ever other color you like pant suits that you can where. Do not let the dress issue postpone your nuptials any longer.
Go become Mrs. _____________ and be happy.

Wear whatever you want - since you have an aversion to skirts and dresses, a nice pantsuit would be lovely and you would be able to wear it for other occasions as well. Nothing dictates that you have to wear a dress. Be comfortable and have a lovely ceremony!

Who says you have to wear a dress? Wear something formal like a nice pantsuit or an extremely nice outfit with some flower, nice shoes, accessories etc. This is your day, wear what you want!

So, don't wear a dress or a skirt! Wear whatever you're most comfortable in. It doesn't matter.

Talk with your wedding partner.
Tell him your preferences - and see if he/she agrees.
There is no law that requires people to wear specific clothing for a wedding..
Bottom line - a wedding day is YOUR day - you (and partner) decide how it will look/go etc.
