I used to believe I could control my life, but I've come to realize I have been doomed to a certain fate and the more I try to escape it the more difficult my life becomes. I can honestly say some force has prevented me from acheiving specific goals. I can't explain this force, I only know it exists, because everything that has happened in my life seems so illogical and goes against everything people claim. No matter what I do or how hard I work or try, I always end up running in place. I am now 36 and have come to the conclusion it was just meant to be.

B.T God also said that he knows every hair on our heads. He has changed bad people into good people which tells me we do not have as much free will or choice as we think. Read the book of Habbakuk.

If you believe in God You must believe in fate, because God has already written the future. It is in the bible and it states that these things must come to pass.

I definatly beleive in fate and destiny... this controls everything that happens around us, even though sometimes it is not always obvious or positive.
Although we do create parts of our fate, however hard we try to lead it to our own desired direction fate always gets its own way and leads you where it wants you to go.
Just except your fate and destiny even if you think or want it to be a ceartain way because u can not fight what is ment to be . . what the universe has in store for you.

If you believe in fate and that everything is pre-destined, then you've basically given up on your life because you'll believe that, whatever you do, nothing will change.
That's pretty much how you've described it yourself.
This is complete tosh and it's very easy to prove otherwise.
Let's take your "logic" to the absolute limit - if you put a gun to your head and shot yourself, would that be fate? No, of course not, that would be you taking the ultimate control of your life.
So, you see, whatever you do and say does indeed have an effect on your life (and other people's). If you feel that you are not progressing in doing what you're doing - then, self evidently it's not working - SO CHANGE IT !
Don't give up on yourself and don't abdicate responsibility for what happens in your life to some mysterious "fate". You and you alone are responsible for what happens in your life.

Are you looking for something magical to happen.
There are no fairy godmothers.
We have to put forward the effort in order to achieve our goals.
We also have to take life as it comes at us.
If you do what you have to do when it has to be done and you do it to the best of your ability, then you can't ask for more than you give.
Just be all that you can be.
Conduct your life in a manner as to build good memories.
Life may throw you blow but you have to get on with life and go forward.
It sounds like you need to take that step and go forward.
36 is the age when we begin to think about where we are and where we ought to be heading in life.
It's the age when we start realizing we have made bad choices and need to recreate our actions.
You have a head start if you will be honest with you self and realize that life IS what you make it.
Make the necessary changes and soon you will be surprised with the changes and the contentment it will bring.
Thanks for the good question.

I am a Hindu . According to our religion fate is true & one shall get whatever he is destined to get. But at the same time it also says that one can win over their fate by their devotion to God, intelligence, the good things they've done in the past..,In Buddhism too fate is termed as karma &it is also said that karma can be changed or weakened by some buddhist practices. It is true that u can change ur fate if u work sincerely&hard ,maybe ur luck would change soon too.

Hello,
I, too believe in fate as well as destiny. It has been destined to every living things in this whole wide world. People say fate is the way leading to destiny that has been alloted to us. For example, your destiny is to become a rich person, but fate will determine the way you'll become rich.

I believe in fate and destiny because there are so many instances from when I was younger that are (were?) a foreshadowing of what's happening to me today. I believe that the saying "life is what you make it" means keep a positive attitude and don't be discouraged.

Maybe both, like somethings are meant to be but who chooses to be the one to do it is up to the person. Maybe you're thinking inside the box. Sometimes the answer is there but we don't see it. Don't give up, take a break, refresh like a computer. Ask your mind to figure it out while you sleep. Think if all the great had given up what would things be like. Remember, Grandma Moses became a great painter at 80 yrs old. Guess that's when she had the time to get around to it.

I read your question and i know exactly how you feel.... i absolutely believe in fate and destiny.... i believe that there are two paths for each person...one that leads to positive and bigger and better things(destiny) and one that leads to negative, kind of what like you describe in your question, which would be fate. don't give up, maybe start going to church or reach out to God and ask him to help you achieve your destiny and not to fall into your fate....

Very good question.
If you believe in fate then you have to believe that you don't have any say so in your life.
But it says in the bible that God gave us Free will. The ability to make decisions for ourselves. For us to decide which road we travel.
If you believe in free will then you have to accept that god doesn't have complete controll.
Its a messy situation isn't it...

I believe that you have several pre-determined paths of life...and depending on your choices, it will lead you to a different path...choices include people you are around, where you are and what you do..I believe that God gave us free will which is exactly what distinguishes us from other species on earth a humans...you determine your path but so does other people's paths. Whoever you cross paths with will affect the path you take as well...
