hello..

I ship out 20080122, and I'm going to talk to my recruiter to see if I can possiby ship out in late september or early october. My question is, how long does that take to change that date? is a week long process? or does it only take a couple days?

I'm sure it won't take long, if they don't want to loose you as a recruit.. ;) All they really have to do is retype your contract..and inform the higher ups so they can change yer flight dates..and stuff. Anyhow... did you kno that yer not legally obligated to leave for basic trainin' until the mornin' you're about to ship..and they swear you in a second time?

you have to put in a DAR..DEPper Action Request. if a slot opens up with the same exact school you have already signed for, you could ship in as little as 24 hours.. but you don't get to say.. I will only ship in October. if a slot comes up next week..you either take it, or you wait until your original ship date.

nor is there any guarantee that any slot will open up for you before then. The Recruiter has no say in when or if any slots become available for you.

however, if you don't ask, you will never know if it is possible.

If you are in the Marine Corps dep you can only be in it for 1 year. So if you will pass one year moving to Sep or Oct, the answer is no. If you do not exceed one year, the NCOIC can move you where ever he wants with no trips to meps. Just keep in mind, that may effect your MOS school date.

ACTUALLY ALL U NEED IS TO TALK TO UR RECRUITER. THEY SEND YA UP TO MEPS AGAIN TO TALK TO A CONSULAR AND THEY DO IT RIGHT THERE ON THE SPOT. :-)
