to you-wouldn't you be suspicious of her? I sing solo's at my church, and she approaches me, and asks me if I will sing w/her-says she's always wanted to get up and sing, but she's really nervous. I say sure-I mean, I'll help someone out. But before this, she's always been REALLY hateful and snotty and stuck-up acting-for no reason-just cuz she apparently thinks she's better than everyone else. Wouldn't you be a little suspicious of her motives?

Too sudden a change in her treatment of you.
Remember, we paranoid people have real enemies too.
Seriously, I would suspect an ulterior motive here.
Just be polite but not friendly.

Of course you'd be suspicious but that doesn't mean you'd be right. Appearances can be deceiving.

Yrs. ago I knew this girl in church I always thought was so stuck up and snotty. She had money and a locally famous name. I was just a poor foster kid. One day out of the blue we looked at each other entering church and she ran over to me wanting to talk. She wanted to know why I didn't like her. I was speechless. She went on to say how much she admired my ability to get to know others so easily. That I was so cool and she was so shy. She claimed she had been praying for the Lord to make us friends and felt He had told her to tell me how she felt.

I was simply blown away. Never in my wildest dreams would I have thought her shy as I always saw her talking to others. As it turned out those others were people she had known all her life. She was so shy that instead of going to work with her dad at his 4 star restaurant where she'd have to deal with strangers, she was going into private accounting.

Maybe this lady is the same way. She wants to sing but nervous. She admires your singing and knows the church likes yours so she's reaching out for help in the only way she knows how. Give her the grace of a benefit of a doubt. You might end up being good friends. I know we did.

Yeah, I'd be suspicious. Did you inherit a whole lot of $? hehe
I would be worried bc there is a saying that you should be close to your friends and that you should be even closer to your enemies. Frankly, I am baffled by your story. Maybe you can be polite with her, but be on the lookout for trouble. Sad that even in church, there are troubled ppl. I used to work with a lady who was a horror 5 days a week (screaming, yelling , etc. in the workplace), but on Sunday in church, she was all smiles and really "nice."

are you really sure she is snooty? Insecure shy people who do not feel at ease in social settings come across as being snooty. They are just too afraid to open up and be themselves so they close up in a protective shell. Be nice to her. It will be good for both of you. Give it a try.

I may be a bit suspicious, too, but if you're a Christian, pray to be kind. It's possible that she admires how you have been blessed. She may also be regretful about her mean behavior.

Perhaps you misread her body language and she really was just nervous or apprehensive and it seemed like she was not friendly, when in reality she was just not a good socializer. Here is your chance to rise above and demonstrate charity and forgiveness.
