Art.com has most of the old masters, and a directory of those artists and their work. They also have the name of the modern artist of the 21 century. There are two art sites that is born out of http://www.art.com , http://www.artistrising.com and http://www.sistino.com/ where you will find new artists and a place to sell your art. Art Price.com http://www.artprice.com maybe the site you are looking for if you are looking for how to price the art work. All the sites are are good for marketing.

If that is the kind of money you expect, take it to a specialized art house or art auction house. On your own you will not get the price it will fetch when they sell it for you even after taxes and commission you will be better of.

Type their name into a search engine like Google, and see what comes up.

You can also send photos of the paintings to auction houses like Sotheby's for appraisal. The auction houses may also be a good place to sell your mother's pieces.
