Yes, a cc and a mL are the same thing.

As I also have children, I know it is important to get this right. I posted a link from the National Institute of Health that verifies 1 mL is equal to 1 cc:

Yes. I am a Registered Nurse. One CC is the same as one ML.

5ml = 5cc
5cc = 1 teaspoon
15cc = 1 tablespoon

1 kg = 1 liter = 1 dm^3

1 g = 1 ml = 1 cm^2

This is for pure water at about 4 celsius, and is the basis of the metric system.

There is a slight technical difference of no practical importance. They are the same, and you may fuss at whomever prescribed in cc's, since recent error-reduction protocols recommend using ml's, not cc's, in prescriptions.

one cc is a cubic centimeter (1cm x 1cm x 1cm)
one litre is a cubic decametre (10cm x 10cm x 10cm) or 1000 cc
one ml is one mililitre or 1/1000 of a litre or 1cc!

So yes, they are the same.
