Since it was a mass then it's not really a Celtic rite, it's Roman Catholic. To me Celtic rites are things like Imbolc, Beltane, Lughsnadda (sp) & Samhain.

It was a variety of rites in the "Celtic Fringe" and in Irish monasteries(for a while) on the Continent
The liturgical language was Latin and there are sites with the Stowe Missal ( and maybe the Bobbio Missal)and Bangor Antiphonal for viewing.
They were 'controversial' for their non Benedictine tonsure(the front rather than center of the head) and the use of an older Roman computation of Nicene Easter.

It's not a "was" question but an IS question. It IS one of the five rites of the Roman Catholic Church. It is available in the United
States as are the other four rites.
