You do one of the options of the back of the copy of citation you were given. Most officers will circle them to make it easy for you. There should be a phone number or address for you also in case you have questions. In most cases the common options are 1-pay the fine, 2-contest the cite in court, if a moving infraction-take a class to keep points off your license, if a vehicle part malfunctioned or unsafe-fix the issue and you can have a reduced ticket price.

tell the cop to F off and drive away. Then when I get home I rip the ticket into sevaral pieces and throw them in the trash. I'll pay those stupid tickets when I'm darn good and ready to. Not when some pig tells me to.
