Long story but i wont bore you with it, just quick summary. I have been trying to get in for a little under 2 years, i have been denied due to a medical condition, which i didnt know i had, i went under treatment for a year and it improved greatly but still not normal. It doesnt hinder my abilities in any way mentally or physically and is not currently progressive.
I have been appealing for over 6 months and its a losing battle. I have submitted doctors notes, and lab reports but they still will not give me the benefit of the doubt. In case you are wondering I am so determined because i absolutely want/need to become Navy SEAL. They are denying me entry into the Navy period not the SEAL program. I really don't know what to do, all my hard work will be in vain if i quit but if i keep going who knows if i will ever get in and it is cutting into my life in ways that are devastating to me, socially, mentally, financially....and i really dont have a basis for a real world career right now

If i keep pursuing this and don't get anywhere i dont know how my life will end up. Right now i still live with my parents i have a part time job to pay for some bills i have, but everything is holding over my head for a possibility that i can get in. I can't put this as a side note it needs to be all or nothing.
PS. i am also disqualified from all branches of the military as they have the same medical standards

I also have written to the secretary of the navy my congresswomen, the president, and my senator. I have gotten responses from the secretary saying their evaluation is correct, and my senator and congresswoman basically saying they dont have control over the navy but can submit my appeal which doesnt help much

My condition is IgA Nephropathy and the odds of progressing are 100% unknown, it could never and i will live perfectly fine or it could come out of remission tomorrow, but its a very slow progress taking about 20 years before my health noticeably declines

I by no means want to tell you what to do. I seems that the universe does. I don't want to say give up. Determination is a wonderful quality. The question is why is the universe resisting "YOUR" plan. You might be being protected more that you realize.

It seems that you have put so much focus on this desire that time is passing you by. You need to pursue your life and keep this as an option. Not your only option. You really only have two out cones with this story. You will get in or you won't get in. Consider your life under both options. Don't sit down and throw in the towel on your life as someone else determines your fate. If you continue a "regular" life you can always quit your job and serve. Don't quit your life as you wait to serve. Drop the opinion of what you should be doing and do what you are doing with pride and joy.

Well, I highly support the Navy but if it isn't working for you at the moment, maybe you should consider going to college and applying for Public Health Service. Waiting won't get you anywhere so it's time to start looking for an alternative to the Navy. They're only a few health requirement's and have a wide range of job opportunities. You just need a degree. It's one of the Uniformed Services of the U.S. Armed Forces so if you really want to join the military, join PHS. It's similar to the Navy so you'll like it. I believe the site is called www.phs.gov. I'm not sure. Search for it on the internet though and check it out.

First thing I think you have been watching too many movies or listening to too many Sea Stories or playing too many Video games: I am going to tell you this it is not like that in real life. Not even close. 90% of the time it is nothing but hard a.s.s.e.d boring work. You need to understand that right off the bat.!:
Now that said:
We are at a disadvanage because you didn't state your medical condition. So can only guess about it. But as Marine Corps Joh will tell you if it is a messed up back forget it.
also if it is Asthma you will most likely not be accepted unless you can prove you do not have to take any medication for it and you do not have any attacks.
Sugar diabetics not you can forget it.
bad knee again you can ask Marine Crops Joh about that one as well.
Bad knees and backs are condusive to 30 force marches with full field pack and full issue of ammo.
Also bad hearing loss will get you denied.

But on to good side have you ever thought about maybe joining the Border patrol I know they are hiring. Dump asses sent me a deal because I am ex Marine Yeah right I'm old enough to retire.

Here is another alternate you might try. You might try joining the National Guard or Air National Guard and the switching over to Regular Army or Regular Air Force.

Here is another alternate you might try. How about the Coast Guard. I know a lot of their requirments a more lax than the other branches because they don't come under the Department of defense. It is either the Treasury Dept. or Transportation Dept. I'm drawing a blank on which one right now.

Here is another alternate plan for you. How about Law enforcement? Either your local police force, your Sheriff's department, or State Police?

And how about your fire department and becoming a Fireman or EMS technician with the fire department.? Those are two good alterantes.

If you aren't 21 you can enroll in criminal justice at your local community College and get your Associates degree while you are waiting to turn 21.

Here is another alternate that might get you in and most likely the best option. How about the Navy Sea Bees. Ask any Marine or ex Marine. We think those guys walk on water.
In Sea Bees you will be able to learn a good trade, such as being an Electrician, Pumper, Carpenter, Brick Mason, Heavy equipment operator, iron worker. etc. which will last you a life time.

Another good option along that vain is going to diving school and getting your diving certificate: Off shore oil companies are always looking for hard hats. and regular divers. And if you want it rough and tough that might be for you. I haven't seen a Marine or Navy Seal yet that could whip a Roughneck or derrick man in a fight unless he'd been a roughneck or derrick man before he joined.
But like I said if not the service try the Border Patrol, Sheriff's department, Your local Police Force, Your State Police force and your local Fire derpatment.

Don't get too discouraged because from; a been there done that point of view. Force Recon and Seals are not all they are cracked up to be.
there are too many other things you can do that are just as good if not better.
And if you want the diving and jumping you can always take up sky diving and scuba diving as a hobby.

Military man over here, wow you really want this. If you want something bad enough you should go for it. But, your medical condition is the tricky part. It might depend on what it is, but also, if they keep denying you, you might never get in. But, keep trying see what happens. The best of luck to you.

>> It doesnt hinder my abilities in any way mentally or physically and is not currently progressive.<<

Since you're not saying what this is, it looks very clear that they think it may become progressive. IOW, progress to a point that it does hinder you mentally or physically.

What are the odds of it never progressing?

Apparently they know what we don't so I can only assume you have no recourse.

Stop wasting your time..the bureaucracy will not change no matter how many letters you send or what noise you make. maybe try something in a similar field like the Coast Guard, otherwise find a career where your problem will not make any difference...good luck!
