I say neither. Just cut out the crap, eat lots of fruits, veggies, whole grains, and lean meats and cheeses. You wont loose weight as fast as a low calorie diet or atkins but you'll keep it off. Especially since you're exercising. It's been working for me so far. It's gradual but I've noticed changes in my body.

Atkins works if you avoid the products and do it the original way. It is easy in someways because you can eat and not be hungry but you can't eat much at parties or other people's houses. At restaurants you only get the meat and veggies so you can leave the table still hungry.
I went on a diet in 1965 that was like Atkins but my dad invented it. Nothing but meat and veggies, I lost 25 pounds in a few months. Dad invented it working on a job site where they had a mess hall with all you could eat all the time.
I did Atkins for a year in 2000 and lost 65 the first few months but then stalled and lost interest.
Low calorie is easier because you can eat things like pasta to fill up on cheap food. I did a diet once of 200 calories a day of nothing but rice and lost 60lb is 5 months.
All diets work.

If you're going through a medical procedure that will be affecting someone else's body, don't do any fad diets. They aren't healthy, and yes, they DO put your body under stress, cuz it isn't natural to eat only meat, and block out all carbs. If you still wanna do some yoyo diet, then wait till after the surgery. But if you wanna start losing wieght now, eat 6 small meals/day, jog for 10 min/day (work your way up to 20 min, 30 min) and that's it. You'll lose weight, you'll be totally healthy, and the kidney you will give your friend will be in the best of shape. Please trust me, fad diets are a no no. They only work (if at all) for a little while. And, if you don't mind me saying, ask your husband to support you with what i just said, rather than buying mags with botoxed, starving, surgery-ridden models that look like they're dying on the cover. Good luck and congrats to you and your hubby about the baby.

The quickest and deadliest would be Atkins, it does work for a quick loose of weight but it is really bad for your heart and cholesterol.
Low calorie intake could be a safest choice for loosing weight, if you avoid the bad carbs you can probably loose weight a little bit quicker, but that depends on your body, 2,000 calories a day is what is recommended for every person so if you would like to loose weight you can cut that down to about 1200. Now don't try to do a crash diet, if you go below a 1000 calories a day, you body starts to save calories and carbs, etc because it needs them to survive and will not get rid of it. That's why you don't have to skip meals.
I would go for the low calorie intake but it is up to you to decide what it's best for your body.

the atkins diet as it was traditionally has basically been blown out of the water... sure youll lose weight but i really isnt good for you... id suggest the old fahsioned diet of eithing healthy and portionatley.. its the only way i have found to take off weight without missign out on key nutrients to your body..... basically lots of fruits and veggies, some pastas/ carbs, lean meats and sweet and fat in moderation.... drink lots of water and take a multi vitamin.... also the more natural and unrefined the product the better your body can both digest and use the food to your bodies benefit... eat a lot of veggies raw or steamed, try whole grain pasta and a lot of "all natural" ingerdients
stay away from caffiene and too much sugar- cane sugar is the best form of sugar...
the diet pills you see in stores sometimes do work, however you have to follow them to a T... but overall if you eat good and get some excercise ythe weight you will be losing will be a healthy amount and you wont be dependant on the pill becasue who knows the long term effects of the pills and.. what happens if they discontinue the pill you use or it is found to be unsafe? better to just go at it naturally or go to your doctor for some alternatives.
You can still eat cheese, eggs, meat, just eat them in smaller portions and also for eggs try eating egg whites they are better if youre loosing weight than whole eggs
I ate about 1500 calories a day and i would eat a lot of vegies, chicken, tuna, fruit, some low calorie wraps or bread for grains and id have crackers (not chips) and a fudge pop (sugar free- 40 calories), popcorn, frozen fruit desert (like sorbet), a couple sugar free cookies (have lower calories too) and things like that for snacks and treats usually one or two a day and at first i lost about 7 -10 lbs a week then i lost like 2-4 lbs a week after a few weeks so i know it works
at first i was kind of hungry but then after about a week i got used to it and i would fill up easily
also.. dont always have to eat "good" Id usually eat sumthing "bad" once a week .... worked for me you just have to be dedicated to it

Adkins can be very dangerous. You will lose weight the latest on it ... but you will also put it back on twice as fast once you go of it. You can not stay on a diet like that forever ... it puts your body in a state of ketosis and it's extremely hard on your liver.
Bottom line: You must put out more than you take in. Period. Any diet will work because of this factor alone. If you have to choose between this two I'd go low cal - but extremely low cal isn't any better than Adkins. The problem with any diet is sticking to it. You should be making life changes ... not focusing on a diet. Research shows 80% of people who "diet' gain all their weight back ... and more.
Diet pills: Losing situation all the way. Look it up on Google. If they really worked don't you think everyone would be taking them? They have the highest danger rate of all. None of them work long term ... and you can do serious damage to your body. Are you really willing to take that chance?
I know what you wanted to hear ... but none of what you mentioned is safe .. or permanent. Lo cal is the best at worst ... but be sure to take a multivitamin and eat lots of veggies and fruits.
Good luck ...

Atkins works--I lost 25 lbs in a month but then I got a bad digestive disease now--so go with low calorie and and cardio--or if you decide to do Atkins only do it for a few months and not a year like I did.

Try low carb, low fat, high fibre, high protein, and exercise. The foods are low caloried, and yet filling and healthy. Brisk walking is great for burning body fats.
It is my lifestyle now. I am on low carb, low fat, high fibre, high protein and a hour brisk walk 5 times a week, and I have lost 31lbs/14kg and gained better health. I am now maintaining my 108lbs/49kg for more than a year, with more fruits and complex carbs.
Details such as my experience, meals, snacks, recipes, foods to buy, reading labels, walking as an exercise and to shape the body etc etc,

You are way too worried about the diets. Forget about them. You are worried about following the rules of something that is not alive, just a speculation. A guess. It's a fad.
In a few years, they'll look back and laugh at "why did we kill ourselves on high-fat diets thinking that we were being healthy?"
That's all I have to tell you. That and stay away from diet pills. They are all garbage that will do you only harm in the long run.
