Long story but i wont bore you with it, just quick summary. I have been trying to get in for a little under 2 years, i have been denied due to a medical condition, which i didnt know i had, i went under treatment for a year and it improved greatly but still not normal. It doesnt hinder my abilities in any way mentally or physically and is not currently progressive.
I have been appealing for over 6 months and its a losing battle. I have submitted doctors notes, and lab reports but they still will not give me the benefit of the doubt. In case you are wondering I am so determined because i absolutely want/need to become Navy SEAL. They are denying me entry into the Navy period not the SEAL program. I really don't know what to do, all my hard work will be in vain if i quit but if i keep going who knows if i will ever get in and it is cutting into my life in ways that are devastating to me, socially, mentally, financially....and i really dont have a basis for a real world career right now

If i keep pursuing this and don't get anywhere i dont know how my life will end up. Right now i still live with my parents i have a part time job to pay for some bills i have, but everything is holding over my head for a possibility that i can get in. I can't put this as a side note it needs to be all or nothing.
PS. i am also disqualified from all branches of the military as they have the same medical standards

I also have written to the secretary of the navy my congresswomen, the president, and my senator. I have gotten responses from the secretary saying their evaluation is correct, and my senator and congresswoman basically saying they dont have control over the navy but can submit my appeal which doesnt help much

My condition is IgA Nephropathy and the odds of progressing are 100% unknown, it could never and i will live perfectly fine or it could come out of remission tomorrow, but its a very slow progress taking about 20 years before my health noticeably declines

and that last bit you posted is the answer.. Prognosis 100% UNKNOWN.

the military will not take a chance that you will come out of remission ever. It isn't about YOU and YOUR desires.. it's about doing what is in the best interests of the Navy. How would you feel if you had a relapse in the middle of the Persian Gulf, and your being sick prevented you from standing a watch that could have prevented your shipmates from being attacked? Or worse, you DIED because you were too far away from medical treatment?!

Find another way to serve your country.

Well, I highly support the Navy but if it isn't working for you at the moment, maybe you should consider going to college and applying for Public Health Service. Waiting won't get you anywhere so it's time to start looking for an alternative to the Navy. They're only a few health requirement's and have a wide range of job opportunities. You just need a degree. It's one of the Uniformed Services of the U.S. Armed Forces so if you really want to join the military, join PHS. It's similar to the Navy so you'll like it. I believe the site is called www.phs.gov. I'm not sure. Search for it on the internet though and check it out.

There are over 250 physical and mental conditions which can disqualify you from enlistment or appointment in the Navy. On top of that is another set of standards (even more stringent) which apply to special programs like SEAL training. Send me an e-mail via my profile. I have access to all of the medical standards. I'm a 25 year veteran of the Navy Medical Department who once spent two years giving physicals for enlistment and induction.

Apply for financial aid and go to college. Not being able to get in Navy is not the end of the world. If you 're a hard worker, you will be successful in college anyway. It's never too late

Good luck!!

It seems like you have been giving them all of the info that they've asked for, and yet they are not honoring your effort. Do you know your local representative? If not, get to know him or her. Let them know your whole story, and back it up with all of your documentation (they LOVE documentation). If you've played CYA throughout all of this, you might stand a chance with a political push. Get to know your reps, Heck, do you know your Senator?

Just a push in 'another' right direction
I admire you

Stay OUT of the military. Please do. I am not a veteran, but I know a few. College is an option. There are ways to pay for it. I am serious.
