My worst: after separating from my ex-husband before I could find a job, my 2 eldest daughters and I lived on Mac & cheese for about a month. LOL.

Other than that, I lived in a home with 4 non-working nasty girls and we had no furniture or door knobs. We lived between 4 bars and didn't have curtains or anything. None of us were working for the first 2 months or so. We were all 18 - 20. Ramen noodles, bread, peanut butter, and, nothing else......

I lived in a home in Monterey Mexico where it was 2 TINY rooms with holes for windows (where people could just reach in) and we were on a very busy street. I remember thinking someone was going to run me over as I slept. We showered with a 5 gallon bucket of water over the head in a tiny room outside, used a hole in the ground for a toilet, and, ate beans and rice every day. I had my clothing stolen from the clothing line (after handwashing it), and, we cooked our food with flame. I lived here for 3 months in 1994, and, battled the largest bat ever!! ewwwwww

Well in 52 years I have had many good times and some not so good times. Looking back on things the bad times were usually my own fault.
When I was 17 I was a stubborn girl who didn't listen to my parents and just wanted to visit my friends and party.I ran away from home and lived with a older girl and a very sweet gay man in a run down hotel in Hollywood, Cal.No money just collecting soda bottles and hand outs from friends.I could of gone home any time but I refused to.The gay man was very sweet and would buy us food and paid all of the bills. It became to weird for me after 6 months and when I turned 18 I called my parents and made up with them.
Nothing really bad happened to me then but it could of.My parents were a bit pissed at me for not calling for so long that they wouldn't let me move back home. They did help me get my own apt. and paid for 2-3 months rent for me then I had to get a job and have been on my own ever since.I know I brought it all on myself.

So what you are suggesting is that those in the worst living conditions should be allowed to or are JUSTIFIED in breaking laws to better their living conditions?

Where do YOU draw the line on law breaking?

How about stealing SS#s to get a illegally obtain employment in the U.S. (a federal offense), such as Elvia Arrellano did (before she was deported and ABANDONED her child for American taxpayers to support)?

Obviously you advocate breakjing laws you don't agree with.

How about someone breaking into a vending machine to get food for their family?

Or breaking open a change machine to get money to get food for their family?

How about stealing from a bread truck?

How about purse snatching?

How about robbing a bank?

Where do you draw the line?

It's not the "opportunity" to move to a better country that you are really talking about. It's sneaking into a country in violation of its immigration laws, as the first offense, followed by more law breaking after they arrive here..

Outside of the military; I lived in a garage apartment with four other males whose main purpose in life seemed to be to drink beer and smoke pot. The place was filthy all of the time. I was in college and I was working part time so I had no money. Once I found a decent job I threw the bums out.

I grew up with money but supported my son by working three jobs and I paid for my own school. I was lucky to have the opportunity to get those jobs because there is nothing I wouldn't have done to keep my son healthy and safe.

wow . it was tuff for me some years ago , I had no money ,no work and no car , I was renting a little apartment but i had no services , no water or electricity. but since it was close to an RV park , here in Texas , I use the showers designed to serve for the tenants there you know tourists ,it was really difficult for me , but I was angry at my family . and didn't want to ask them for help. so i struggle for a good three months ,but i found a good job at the Radisson Hotels as a Banquet Waiter, ,boy they pay good , I got back in my feet in no time . hope never have to go trough that ever again.

I consider myself very luck and thankfully that I have not been in this situation.

I help (thought my church) by making food and donating it to local homeless shelters, they in turn give it out to the people who live on the streets. It was a very humbling experience to go into a homeless shelter and meet people who have no where to call home.
