People who say that are generally young and have never actually been in love or are using the term loosely. I love my right hand.. but that doesn't mean im going to marry it.

You definetly dont have to have another persons consent to love somebody or something. That's like saying you love your kid but he shows no affection towards you, are you supposed to automatically hate your kid. Maybe the reason why you cant tell this guy you love him is because you are afraid to love someone without knowing that they'll love you back. Also it's not necessarilly garanteed that a person will love someone the same as that person loves them. If that's a problem than you may have an issue with loving people. You'll never be able to imagine giving without receiving. In closing, how can you expect someone to say they love you when they sense in you that you arent willing to love first.

firstly choosing someone else's best interest ahead of your own and acting on it is love. kissing does not equal love.
so the phrase being in love is not strictly accurate, they are probably "in like" or infatuated with him. so until they interact and start doing things for their crush, it is not love, it is just a feeling, a response to the person's personality or looks or whatever. so it would be very possible to have this feeling for someone without them knowing it.
on the other hand if the people care for, talk to, give gifts to, share experiences with etc. the crush, and none other within the crush's awareness, for a whole year or three years it would soon become obvious that the person really loves the crush and their would be something wrong with the crush if he or she didn't see it.

I agree with some of your points. I think that when people
say "I love him but we've never talked" or something like
that are not in love, they just have a crush. To be in love
with someone they have to get to know the person and
accept them as they are. But I don't agree with the thing
about being in love with someone and if they don't love you
back then it's not real love.
Some people who are in relationships for a long time
fall in love with their partners, but their partners don't
fall in love with them for whatever reason. Just because
you love someone and you're not loved back, that doesn't
mean that the love you feel for them is not real love.

With all do respect, kissing and the like is just infactuation. Love goes deeper. When you love someone, sometimes its best for that person to let them be ignorant of your feelings. Love doesn't have to be reciprocated to be "real", thats "unconditional" love.

They are just infatuated and using the word love inappropriately, since they have obviously never experienced true love.

unrequited love. lol.
i agree, it can be a crush, but love is something TWO people share with one another, after they have dated for some time. it doesnt just happen istantly, well i dont think it does.
