I think some people here are a bit slow, because you said one thing and got completely different answers. Needless to say I don't think anyone can really answer this for the simple fact that not a single person a live today has ever seen or herd God speak. Also the bible was not written by God, it was written by man who claim that it was inspired by God. Their is no answer for your question or anyone Else's religious questions.
But looking on the bright side, you did get to voice your op ion and hear the opinion of others.

Oh, you mean that jerk Vlad the Impaler.... I would hardly call the 1400's "close to biblical times". Yeah, God must have had His eyes closed and His ears plugged during the middle ages. Don't forget all the people who were being tortured, the black plague killing around a third of europe's population, and people like Joan of Arc being burned at the stake. People seem to think that modern times are so bad and that the world is going to hell in a handbasket, but I'll take living now over living in the middle ages any day. People now talk about violent video games and their affect on children, but in the middle ages the violence was real. Vlad died a pretty fitting death though if I remember correctly. He got his comeuppance.

Where was God? This isn't even near the worst thing that's happened in the world, and it's microscopic compared to what WILL happen. Honestly, I think Hiroshima, even though the motive was clear and thoroughly thought out, was even more inhumane than Vlad the Impaler. The flood that killed everything on earth was probably even more gruesome. How many bodies do you think floated?

Now read Revelation chapters 6-16. Rivers turning into the blood as of dead men. Hundred pound hailstones will fall on men. Not even the plagues of Egypt will be able to compare.

I think God's preparing men for the greater emergencies, teaching them to value the times that we have now that we consider hard. Right now, the biggest world threat is debt. We worry more about debt than death. Sometimes, what we think is the worst thing in the world is merely a tiny wake-up call.

Vlad Tepes was the 15th Century monster that Dracula the Vampire was based on and I wouldn't class 1,400 - 1,500 years after Jesus as being very close to biblical times - that's many generations afterwards.

God of course was there, but he has placed us in a real world where actions have consequences and if he was constantly interferring in that and overruling everything then we would never experience a real world.

It's up to us whether we make this real world a good place to live or a miserable place and a few bad apples can spoil it for everybody.

Fortunately this situation is temporary because the good news of the Gospel was that Jesus will come back and establish his kingdom here but that won't happen until we have had plenty of opportunity to prove to ourselves that our ways lead to death and his ways lead to life.

Ahh, Count Dracula, or 'Vlad the Impaler.' A sicko, to be sure. But to be honest, I think there are sicker sickos out there. He just has a scary mythology attached - not that he wasn't sick.

I'm starting to view Hobbes as a thinker who got close to describing our state of being. He believed that all of creation was corrupted by sin. It's a miracle that any good is seen at all.

That doesn't really answer your question though. The only answer I have is that I have no idea. I fall back on 'God's Will'.

There have always been evil evil men on this planet. People allow themselves to be taken in by the devil to a certain degree more or less. Then some people get a certain amount of insanity from being so close to the twister of truth. The people that were victims of Vlad may also have angered Our Lord in some way that we do not know of. God is infinitely just and powerful enough to stop anything from happening that isn't warrented. Only He knows the hearts of men. God bless.

It is not our place to question God. He was right there. Regardless of whether or not we think He should have been actively standing there or not, it is not our place. You say you don't want to hear about God's will because you already know all of this? Well, I am not so sure you do if you have to ask the question.

We could ask where was God when Hitler reigned? Where was God when the Tsunami struck in the Pacific Ocean? Where was God when Hurricane Katrina hit the Gulf? Where was God when 9/11 happened? The answer? He was right there.

Things like this happen because of man's original sin. That's everyone's problem....they keep looking up. People expect God to do everything for them but what they do not realize is they have the power.

People need to realize that death, despair, chaos, pain, suffering, etc. exist because we sin. Until we get away from our sin, we will not be free.....

Know that the Lord speaks the same today as he ever has. Actually he is screaming for people to see believe and know him. People refuse to listen more in resent times God's Will is never evil or murderous in nature. The Lord wishes none of that upon us. Why was Hitler allowed to run amuck and cause the Holocaust? Why did the twin towers and many lives get destroyed on that fate-full day in September? God sure does speak today I can assure you that. The answer you seek lies in the Chapter of the Bible called Revelations

God is omnipotent, a being that existed, exists, and will always exist. So, to quote Pinochet: "no leaf is turned wothout me knowing that", so God is there too during the Vlad Tepes period. BTW, what the hell is Vlad tepes?

Lord Tepes may have performed some evil deeds, but most of them stemmed from his desire to make his country the best it could be. The fact that your god did not stop him could be that he approved it, or that he did not care. though you could also ask where was your god while his father and older brother were buried alive, or his youngest brother Radu was turned against him. (A report sent by one of the noblemen that buried the older Lord said the Vlad was made to watch as they buried the two men.) He was not given much of a chance to be a good person, though he is still haled as a hero in his native land.
