How long does it usually take before a soldier receives his bonus for enlisting in the Army? They told him it would be a week to two weeks, than a week to three weeks. So, does anyone know?

I should add that he has already completed AIT and all and has already gone to S-1 and had all the paperwork processed. He had his first Drill Duty last weekend.

your bonus is contingent upon successful completion of AIT (advanced individual training). once that is done and your soldier gets to his unit, he will have to see the S-1 and get the paper work submitted. If I remember right I had mine in 3-4 months.

They haven't eliminated them. They just aren't automatic anymore. The Army is getting enough recruits this year, so what bonuses there are, are smaller and are targeted. Meaning you won't get one unless you are pretty well qualified, and you sign up for certain fields. You might not be qualified for those fields. You would have to talk to a recruiter, really, and you won't have an answer until the day you sign a contract, because bonuses change from week to week. You might know someone who got an $8000 bonus, and you could sign for the same thing a month later and not get anything.

Reserve Bonuses can easily take 6 months or more once all conditions are met.

Keep in mind, too, that the Fiscal year is coming to a close, and a very real possibility is.. the Army is broke and can't pay the bonus until after 1 October.

probably depends on the post and how fast their finance is going. When i first got to Ft. Riley.. we got here, and got our bonuses a week later. lol It was sweet. Everybody was rich in replacement.. probably not a good thing. But my brother got stationed at Ft. Benning and it took almost a year, they had problems with his paperwork too. So make sure you have the contract(make sure the signatures and initials are there). Just incase something goes sour and they "lose your contract" because they like to do that!

he should have gotten it as soon as he graduated AIT, depending on the bonus amount.. it should come in chunks in each paycheck.
