So do you accept the fact the bible states a woman is only worth half that of a man? Or do you ignore that part?

I am not a feminist, but the women were generally not as strong as the men and therefore not able to do as much work, so it makes sense in that way. Men and women in the same jobs today, such as accountants, should be compensated equally if they are doing the same amount and quality of work.

Well, (YAWN) one more time...using Old Testament Mosaic Law to say that christianity is evil. Why not go after the Jewish people on this, since they more closely follow the Mosaic Law?

That's like saying the laws of morality that were written in the 1600s in Massachusetts about women's dress are relevant to the US today! The culture has changed in the US and that's the same principle you need to realize when you blame Christianity based upon scriptures that show the laws that do not apply.

I thiink if you were to look at any other culture from that time period of Leviticus, you would find that most women had less value than the Hebrew Women.

Leviticus 27 covers the devotion of things to the LORD, ie, the turning over of certain properties to God's service at the Temple. A man could give a servant, or a cow, or a sheep, or a house, or a field, etc. to the Priests, to be used as either a sacrifice or the good of the priest's needs.

If the man making the donation wanted to redeem (buy back) the donated item later, a dollar amount was fixed to it. (The same dollar amounts were used in the local market.) Some items were NOT available for redemption (designated as "most holy"), and therfore could not be bought back.

NOW....how is the worth of any one particular item calculated? It depends....consult the text....

There were fixed amounts for rams, bulls, goats....livestock is livestock. Houses had to be appraised to determine their value; a smaller house (or one in poorer condition) is obviously not worth as much as a larger, better house. Fields were valued according to the number of crop years left until the next Jubilee (happenned every 50 years), when the property would automatically revert back to the original owner.

How were humans valued? BY THE WORK THEY DID.

Which is worth more: a Chevy S10 or a Volkswagen Beetle?

The price you see in Leviticus is a reflection of the value given to the work recieved by men and women, NOT a reflection of the spiritual values carried by each.

When it comes to that, men and women recieved the same payment for their spiritual redemption: the death and ressurection of Christ. The same price was paid for their souls!

Yeah, let's do ask the rabbis what they say:

"The scale is evidently based on size and strength, and thus on potential productivity in terms of physical labor. It is not indicative of any social hierarchy." - Jewish Publication Society, Tanakh Translation, Jewish Study Bible Notes.

Ok. So the Jews had some "crazy" temple scales based upon physical labor, written ironically enough in an era of physical labor. What does that have to say about the inherent worth of any human being?

Peace to you.

That may have been common thinking back when people crapped in holes in the ground. It has no relevance today.
