Go to the MTA website; look at their bus map, since that is basically the main mode of public transportation. The bus map also includes the metro lines. It's very detailed, and is as good as it gets in Los Angeles.

I have lived in LA since 2000 and to my knowledge there are only 3 ways to get schedule and route info. That is by calling 1-800 commute (which i believe is the resource u claim doesn't work), going on-line, or obtaining the pamphlet available on the bus or train station of your desired route.

The fact is that public transportation sucks in LA especially when compared to my home town of NYC.~~Good Luck

Go to Metro. net. Enter the location where you are and the address where you want to go. Press enter and you will see all the options for public transportation including busses, subway and Metrolink trains. I use it all the time (and yes, I have a car!)

I like using transtar, I rarely have any issue with it. Transtar also incorporates the various local line such as Omnitrans in San Bernardino, OCTA in Orange Co, RTA in Riverside county and Metrolink.

perhaps I can help you
you say the trip planner doesnt work
can you give me a example of that?
also if you are entering two intersections
Like Venice and Lincoln
you have to enter it like this
Venice / Lincoln [you have to use the slash mark]
(dont use "And"" or & ) then it wont work (I'm betting thats the problem)
if you can tell where you are starting from and where you are going I can figure it out for you (as bus information is one of my hobbies)

call their number,. Its nicer to talk to a customer service person rather than trying to use an automated system at times. Good luck
