I have hydrocephalus, a condition that causes cerebral fluid to form in my head, but I am perfectly healthy and havent had any complications since birth. Can I joined one of the Armed Forces? Im currently leaning toward the National Guard, but not sure if I can.

I don't see it listed as one of the disqualifying conditions in AR 40-501 (Standards of Medical Fitness). But, if you have a retained vascular shunt to control it, that might be disqualifying. BTW, MEPS is the Military Enlistment Processing Station.

That could be dangerous I am not sure if you could get a waiver for that.

If MEPS allows a waiver then you could get in, but if you get injured any injury will be considered "Condition existing prior to service"

MEPS ( Military Enlistment Processing Station) the last place you go to sign up for the military. That is where you get you physicals and take your test for military service.

If it's never caused a problem it should be okay but they'll have to tell you for sure.
