I'm not sure how many #1 songs he wrote, but my favorite is Last Dollar (Fly Away) sung by Tim McGraw. The band he was in was Lonestar. He wasn't the lead singer though.

one of my favorite john rivh songs is Like We Never Loved At All and i also love Holy Water and Amarillo Sky. i do not know about the number ones though
