I'm a 24 year old Chinese guy. I want to get into the Navy to get educatin and to serve as an interpreter. What is required to get into the Navy? How long does it take to be noticed?

Do they teach swimming also?

for starters you have meet Beers

Did you graduate High school (traditional 4 yr) or ged?

can you pass the aptitutde test

also do you have a green card or are you born in the us??

How about are you healty and do you have medical problems?

Do you take medications??

Have tattoos?

surgerys or injurys in the past/current?

wear glasses??

are you married? do you have kids??

do you have astma?

ever used illegal drugs??

what is your height and weight??

have you ever been in trouble with police for any any any reason?

these are some of the basic questions that fall under general pre- reqs

yes they teach how to swim

and also being an interpeter is hard job to get??

you must, at minimum, be a Permanent Legal resident with a Green Card.

however, CTIs (Linguists) require you to be a Citizen and eligible to get a Top Secret Clearance. CTIs are NOT interpreters. the Navy doesn't have a specific rating for that, and in fact seldom uses actual interpreters.

If you do not know how to swim, you will be taught the basics at Boot Camp, but it is a lot better for you to do so on your own time so that you finish BC on time.

well first of all you HAVE to be a US citizen. You have to have a certain score on the ASVAB (military aptitude test its not hard). You must be a highschool grad or have a GED. Then you cant have major physical restrictions. Other than that you need to go see a recruiter go to

If you go see a Navy recruiter in your area they will answer all your questions.
