Apply icepack (or frozen bag of peas or corn will do) wrapped in a towel to the affected area 4 x a day or so for 10-15 minutes each time. This will help prevent swelling and decrease the amount of bruising. Follow the directions given by your surgeon above all else, please.

Get some Arnica at the pharmacy or health food store it reduces both bruising and swelling

ice
on and off
ice for 5 min
relax for 10
do that for until you reaching 30 min. for icing
or lesser
but if you do do it for a lesser amount of time
you should do it another time through out the day

Icepack or a raw steak If you have a open place because of sticthes or anything else do not use the steak because of infections due to bacteria.

i would have said steak if it wasn't post surgery but, i think ice in a soft cloth should help. didn't they give you discharge papers with instructions?

You can ice it for 20 min every hour.
