Unless she reported the card stolen and THEN you used it the credit card company has no knowledge of who actually used the card and will not press charges against you. If she reported it stolen and then you used it then yes, they will press charges. However, the way credit card companies are I would imagine if you and your mother spoke to them, explained the situation, and paid them the money owed all of this will quietly disappear as a "familial dispute". With no money owed there is no damage done.

If that is not possible and you are taken to court you will be ordered to pay back the money in addition to any legal punishment (such as community service or even jail time) Your punishment will be determined by a lot of factors you have not included such as your age and criminal history. If this is your first offense and your mother is on your side I see almost no possibility of jail time but a large possibility for community service and probation.

That should teach you a very good lesson, just because it was your Mother, and she didn't press charges the credit company did. I am sure they will make you pay with interest, you either pay them or go to jail. I would start looking for work.

I hope you at the very least, apologize to your Mom.

The credit card company will not prosecute if your mom pays on the card. You should work out a deal with your mother and make the payments. She can tell them it was a misunderstanding and she lent you the card.

If your mom isn't pressing charges for the fraudulant charges, she will be responsible for paying the bill. The credit card company WILL get paid, if she doesn't pay, they will sue her. YOU need to step up and take responsibility for your actions!
