i am getting married soon.however i have a coworker who is copying my wedding.ive never shared much of my personal life to those at work except w/ a couple friends i work w/ but even if we tlaked about personal life it was when we were alone. after i got engaged i reveiled a lil more.the older women brought in old photos and there were discussions of things that go wrong and things that go right etc etc. the things that i ended up reveiling during these conversations were picked up and copied by a man a work with. he bought his fiance the exact rings i have, took r wedding colors, even r wedding date!! when he found out my fiance was a computer programmer he told me he was going to school for programming. i congratulated him. a few wks later i asked how his classes were going (it was only him and I) and he claimed he never told me that and i was lying. i have since not reveiled anything. but my question is since were getting married the same day how can i save coworkers the awkwardness

Sounds like your neighbor and coworker is a bit jealous of you or at the very least is trying to "keep up with the Jone's." It will be a bit tough on the rest of your co-workers to try and get to both wedding receptions on the same day. Hopefully they are not also at the same time. If so, perhaps they will spend some time at both if they are in the same city and not to far apart. I would not worry too much about this. Plan your wedding and don't let this guy ruin it for you.
You can bet he does not care what other people think. I think most of your co-workers will feel the same as they did for your BBQ. You invited first and had things planned beforehand and will show up accordingly. Congrats on your upcoming wedding and Good Luck to you both.

I totally agree with Christine H.Everyone is an adult and it's not ur job 2 worry about how they'll feel with ur date. It's ur SPECIAL day 2 be a PRINCESS and this extraneous freak show should be ignored 2 the best of ur ability.Ten yrs. from now they will be the most vague memory but ur day will be amazing.Don't let the pathological liar w/ the insecurity commplex F it up.Immitation is the most sincere form of flattery. If I worked w/ you 2 I'd love 2 go 2 the joint party and would prob be "out of town" that wknd, so I wouldn't have to be partial. They're adult enough 2 figure it out.(Google CODA for me). They work on letting go of **** like that.BTW-a lower turnout means more honeymoon$ !!!Who wants work people there anyhow?!If any1 at work comments say that you booked the location b4 they decided what they were doing so it is what it is! I wonder if u should comment,"It's bazaar how we have the same ring, the same colors, and the same date, don't you think? How did that happen?"..Try 2 just enjoy the pre-wedding bliss though and relish in the happiness of your special day as a Princess.Trust me as a single woman ur very lucky 2 b planning that day!!!

Wow! He has some serious issues on trying to keep up with the "Jones's" or He is trying to 1 up you. I had a neighbor 1 time that would try to buy something a little bigger than i did.

I bought a BBQ grill, he bought a bigger one, I painted my house, he painted his house, I completely remodelled inside, next month he tryed to do the same, I had a new roof put on my house, he had one put on his house. I had a big vegetable garden he decided to try to grow one.

But what was funny, he always had his grown children do his house repairs for him (not reliable help I might add) so any home project he done were half way completed and never finished.

I got so tired of it that one day he came over while i was doing yard work and started asking me what i was going to do to the back yard, I told him i was getting a pool put in!! I set back and wondered how long it would be before they got one. It was funny when I found out his wife said no to him

I'm not sure why this is such a big deal to you. Live your life on your terms, your way, and stop paying attention to what everybody else says or does. You're wasting your time on this coworker, and you're wasting even more time worrying about how your other coworkers will deal with the awkwardness. They are big boys and big girls, and they can handle their own lives. You just take care of yourself.

Getting married is really stressful, and sometimes it's easier to focus on one small thing and make a big deal out of it than it is to deal with all the fears and insecurities that go along with planning a wedding and a new life. Give yourself a break, okay?

And congratuations and best wishes to you and your fiance. You're going to end up with a beautiful wedding and happy life.

Awww, this is too crazy. You mean they took the same date? Christ!

Maybe you can have your wedding before the jerks'. Then your guests will know who copied whom?

I wouldn't say they're jealous of you, but they admire your tastes to a fault! How ignorant can anybody be?

Invite those you were planning to. However- don't post an invite in a public place-- be sure to mail them.

If people want to attend, they will. Everyone is a grown up.

If you are concerned about his feelings being hurt- be sure to get him a gift, have a joint office party...
