Everytime i am engaging in conversation with my mother and my brother walks in the room, it's as if god himself has graced us with his presence. now we all live in the same apartment, so i'm not talking he just arrived from New York or something. it hasn't failed, every single time, she ignores what i'm speaking with her about and looks over at him and starts talking. is this normal? are mothers supposed to be this rude, just because their precious baby boy walks in. he's 21 mind you. oh and don't get me wrong i'm not like mom you like him better then me. it's just kind of rude and annoying.

Youre right it is very rude. She has no manners or class. Do it to her and see how she likes it.

In a very annoyed voice, say , "Hey Mom! We were talking." If she doesn't respond to you, ask "Do you want to here what I wanted to tell you, or not?" My wife was doing the same thing to me whenever a kid walked in. She didn't realize that she was doing it. So I called her on it with those phrases. It took several times, but she changed and let me finish before talking to the kids. It also taught the kids to wait their turn.
