It was not cut. Did not feel a sting or bite. It has been swelling since last night. I cannot rest. It hurts.

Any suggestions.

You've got an infection in it. You should get it checked at the hospital or by your GP. In the mean time try cleaning it with a solution of warm water and salt. It stings but is great for infections. You could also put on some antiseptic cream if you have any. Make sure that it is one suitable for open wounds first tho.

OMG, i have the same thing going on. I sqeezed the puss out, then soaked my "big" toe in some warm/hot ( hot as you can stand) epsom salt. It stung like hell for about 20 seconds, then got numb. I soaked for about 30 minutes and then applied a topical cream for toe infections. Im worried too, these things can be spookie, especially since i have a headache like you had mentioned. If it doesnt get better in 24 hours, or i see the red streaks, ill goto the doctors. Good luck to you and me both.

Go to the doctor and don't try to cure it yourself---infection can spread throughout your whole system. Swelling, oozing infection, and fever are warning signs, so pay attention to them and get it checked very soon. If it is that bad, you likely need an antibiotic before it gets any worse.

Seek professional medical advice right away.

Sounds like a bacterial Infection even though you say you don't think you have cut it. Simple antibiotics should solve the problem but just in case check with a nurse , doctor or health professional.

Better safe than sorry:-)

ingrowing toenail with hypergranulation tissue and infection by the sounds.
you will need antibiotics, in the meantime saline footbaths, antiinflammatories and neosporin.
see a podiatrist in the morning.
if you have red lines coming up your foot it means the infection is spreading through your bloodstream and thats the time to panic.
i see these toes every day - they hurt like hell, you will need to have the spike of nail removed - i wish i lived closer, i love doing these lol

It is obviously infected and you need to clean it thoroughly with hydrogen peroxide a few times. Squeeze it as much as you can to get the pus out. If you put ice on it before you squeeze it will help with the pain. Take some pain medication about 30 minutes before you do this. After you have cleaned it as much as you can put antibiotic ointment on it. A triple antibiotic cream is best. If you have a fever that means it has probably spread so you may need to get to a doctor as soon as you can. Let me know how it turns out. My address is etherea43@yahoo.com
