I look at:
(1) General notes
(2) if there is an area of interest, I'll look at the framing system, and the load path, and then I'll look on superior floors to see if there are any point loads etc, but this is for structural drawings..it really depends on the type of drawing. but ALWAYS read those general notes!

A lot of times the first thing i look for is a magnifying glass... so i can read the darn thing!

The Data Block. That's the "who-what-when-where-why" box, so you know you are looking at the right drawing.

who the architect is, some are more detailed than others. I have my favorite, and when it is his drawings I know things will be alot easier.
