F Bomb! Where the HELL have you been?!

My parents are perfect examples of how NOT to raise children. Wherever the hell they are now.

EDIT- to Itchianna below me, who I SUSPECT gave me the thumbs down-- I most certainly do not blame my parents for my failures. THEY WERE NEVER AROUND. My father's a lifelong alcoholic who beat his children (BEAT, not 'spanked'--there's a difference) and my mother left us when I was 17-- left her 4 kids with their abusive father because she wanted to be with her 22 yr old boyfriend. Sorry that I can't say my parents were perfect like yours! Try judging less, you asshole.

They taught me how to NOT raise kids.

Examples:

A)Never stay together "for the kids"
B)Don't treat them like adults in such a sense so that they never really were children
C)Don't try and be an addict and parent at the same time

I've learned a lot about parenting from the many mistakes my parents made.

I don't want kids but if I ever change my mind I'll know what NOT to do.

My father and I never had a relationship so I'm working on raising my kids on instinct. My mom passed away when I was 7 so my dad basically just supported me financially when I moved out at 17... Didn't teach me one thing ....

In our house, children were considered to be imperfect adults. The only was to get along was to act as much like an adult as possible.
No wait; that isn't right. There was no way to get along. I meant the only way to SURVIVE.
My family was one of those which put the f-u-n in dysfunction. You never knew when the fertilizer was going to hit the fan, where it was going to come from, or where it was going to land.
I became hypervigilant to the point of paranoia.

My teenage daughter is a pampered and spoiled brat.
She knows it. I spoiled and pampered her. Isn't that what daughters are for?

My grandma lived with us. She was an angel. She has been gone for many years and I still miss her.

Both, my mom and grandma helped show me how to be a good parent and my dad and grandpa showed me what not to do mostly. So they both helped teach me the do's and don'ts but i figured a lot out on my own with experiences in life.

They didn't teach me anything except for how to lie, cheat and steal. So I guess they did teach me how to raise my kid after all.

My parents taught me how to raise a child. I learned from their strengths and their weakness, just as my children will learn from me. One of the things I truly do not like hearing is adults, especially those in the late thirties and older continue to blame their parents for the own weakness. Parents rear children, after your teens your decisions are your own. Your achievements and failures are yours and yours alone.
